I disliked the Hornets name and colors, but they grew on me. And while the Hive was the place to be seen, they really didn't get a diehard fanbase until they drafted LJ and Zo and shocked the Celtics out of the playoffs.

Up until that point, everyone at Charlotte Coliseum was there to see the other team.

And then that diehard fanbase died thanks to Shinn.

Honestly I am fine with the bobcats. I have team paraphernalia, and I like the design of the jerseys this year.... However I do not care if the the owner believes it's in the teams best interest to change the nickname. I will support the team regardless. We can wear pink and be the Charlotte Cinderellas for all I care. I do not like the team because of a nickname.

What I do like about Jordan is him being open and objective to doing whatever is best for the team and fan base as a whole! Fair-weather or hardcore doesn't matter. Fact is the bobcats have to do better with fan relations and Jordan knows that. I liked the E:60 special because he was patient and was willing to do whatever was needed to get his racing team wins. Jordan seems to know (From his actions, and past actions with other sports) that nothing is owed to him. Should the city support the team? Yes! If they don't you can go get them, make them happy and want to support the team, or sit back and pout or cry about how things are unfair. Jordan is a do'er, that's why I am happy he is the owner.

You have to deal with facts... Deserved or not the fan base or city of Charlotte for the most part where not fans of Bob. This is fact. The reasoning doesn't matter, wether or not it was fair does not matter. So the question is will winning and time make him forgotten and improve the fan base... or will something like a name change be worth it and improve the fan base quicker than what winning can?

That's what I got from this recent interview from Jordan. That they will objectively look at the situation and go in whatever direction is best for the franchise as a whole. Which is best??? I have no idea... It's hard to know when decisions are based on what people perception is, or will be of the team.

Rather I have to but new Charlotte gear, or additional bobcat gear is fine with me. I do not believe I am more important than the "Fair weather fans who would support the team with a name change" just because I have been a supporter longer. If I do make this move to Charlotte this summer I will be getting season tickets.

Jordan is giving lip service about changing the name, and people that only have a casual interest in the team have something to gossip about.

If that's what he's doing and it's part of his plan... fine. All of us who post in here, care about the team, and are true fans of the team are not the ones the ownership needs to worry about. I;m sure all of us will be here and continue to support our team.

Those who only have a "Causal Interest" are the ones the ownership needs to focus on. Get them to the game and become more than casual supporters. So if the talk about a name change is away to get them interested so be it. But the teams needs more than Hardcore supporters to be profitable.

If the team wants hardcore supporters, its going to have to change markets. The only way to get hardcore fans around here would be to change the name to Tarheels and win 10 championships in a row.

That's just how Charlotte is.

He said Charlotte needs more than "Hardcore supporters", though your assessment was still pretty correct. Casual fans would still jump aboard in droves if that happened.

That's just how bandwagoners are.

The only thing tired is you asking that dumb question over and over again.

alsmost as dumb as the fairweather, wannabe fans posting on this board every other day why the name needs to be changed, along with any other thing they can whine about .

They can be dumb, but the organization will not be successful without some kind of support from all of these Fair-weather fans. You may not be for it, I may not be for it.... but a lot of people do want it. When it's that many people asking for it, it has to be considered and looked at. Maybe nothing happens, maybe the name does change. Even if it does It won't change our (Mine and your) support for the team...

I posted this article because it was a new interview from MJ, and because I personally liked the approach he's taking to the situation. People talk about it, because it is a big deal for them.... You may not agree with why they feel that way, but they do, and it's more than a small % of the fan base.

it may be a large % of casual fans who feel this way but most fans that have been around since day one could care less, these same casual fans will show up if you win and if the price/value of the product is worth it to them. MJ has said he is willing to consider a change but he also feels it's silly if the name of a team keeps people from going to games. i really don't care what the name is,but as soon as he changes the name these same people will have another excuse as to why they won't support the team(the arena, nba's thug image,)or whatever new reason they come up with. that's something that true fans understand

Other than getting the name "Hornets" back, no other name is really ever going to feel perfect. We're sort of wasting our time, playing around with ideas, when we all know what we really want...

In time, the Bobcats name will grow on us. For me, it's already started to. I think winning changes things, and when we made the playoffs, I began to accept the team's name a bit more. The little things like the name, the colors, mean a little less.

Even more fairweather are those that support a name change because of a poll they saw on the internet.

THERE WILL BE MORE FAIRWEATHER FANS. LIKE YOU. THAT CAN'T SPELL AND THINK GRAMMAR IS THAT OLD WOMAN YOU VISIT ON SUNDAYS IN THE NURSING HOME.

GTFO out of here with your broken engrish and polls. You're not a fan of the team anyway. You're just here to suck KT's balls. Go jack off Jake Delhomme.

You know you're losing a battle when you resort to mocking how I type & weak insults. Are you still in middle school with making big deal about how people typed or something? I may not be perfect, but I don't have to act like a smartass with that kind of behavior.

And I'm not fan of the team anyway? Then what kind of fan are you for suggesting you won't support the team anymore if they change the name? Ironic!! But then I bet if the polls show more fans support "Bobcats", you would agree with it.

I also laugh at how you think I'm here to suck KT's balls, when he didn't made this thread & I wasn't replying to him. Sorry to tell you that I'm straight, but I'm sure you aren't with wanting to watch me suck KT's ball & jack off to Jake. :dita:

Did it take you 4 hours to type all that out?

Keep setting conditions for your support until we've got an elite squad. Then you'll STFU and l2grammar.
