Strengths, weaknesses & solutions

Recommended Posts

IMO:

Strengths:

Entire Defense team

Running Back team

Weaknesses:

QBs

WRs

KR & PR team (despite of Mike Goodson's TD)

Solutions?

Stick with Mike Goodson

Look for Steve Smith A LOT

Use WR #2 on third downs

Start using Jimmy Clausen by mid week (even though this is only pre-season, i'm a little disappointed in Matt Moore)

I think Moore's looked fine considering our receiving corp, poor o-line play and the defenses we've gone up against.

I mean, I'm not saying he's looked great, as he hasn't, but he's still the best option right now. Clausen looks very promising, but let's not throw him to the wolves yet.

Our running game has looked shoddy too. We know D.Will is solid... so maybe our offense problems aren't the QB/WR situation, but the O-Line?

Who knows... maybe Hoover was the glue that kept it all together...

weaknesses

-wrs

-ol

-kick returner, punt returner

solution

-idk what's wrong with the o line. without really game planning, it could just be that the scheming is bad so they're not being given a fair chance.

-cut dwayne jarrett to send a message to the other guys. perform or you can go. just because you're drafted in the 2nd round doesn't mean you get to hang around for years doing nothing.

-let munnerlyn return punts and kicks.

The only way cutting Jarrett helps this team is if you bring in another WR. Sad to say, but Jarrett is still one of the best 5 WR's on the team right now.

the run game is fine. Titans saw like everyone else that passing just wasn't working, all they had to do was stop the run, so they did, and they brought everyone in to do so.

I still think it is far too early to pencil this defense down as a powerhouse. This is a passing league now and we have yet to see this group of guys go up against teams that like to spread it out and attack defenses. All teams we face in the preseason attack defenses the exact same way.

also, I don't see how QB is a weakness. We have one NFL WR on this team and he hasn't played. Moore hasn't looked super sharp but it is preseason and he is being given a rotation of sub par WRs every couple of downs.

cut Jarrett? So cut the only guy who consistantly shows he can make catches? What message does that send? We know one thing Jarrett doesn't do....drop those big 3rd down balls like LaFell did. After 3 preseason games Jarrett is the only one who looks like he is ready to be on the field week 1. Jarrett should have had an easy 40+ yard score Saturday night....instead of acknowledging what he did as a positive people still try to find ways to knock him.

Well D-Will didn't look good in the last preseason game so definitely cut him despite everything he has done in actual games. Then start J-Stew oh wait he hasn't even played this season so he's garbage..so Sutton then. Oh wait that's not gonna work cause he was't that great this preseason either Not averageing great yards and a fumble..........goodbye. So start Goodson. Well his average in the preseason hasn't been anything to write home about so...... Oh good lord please provide us with an unproven 2nd round rookie RB or else we are soooooooooooooooooo screwed. Preferably one that went to a big name college and didn't win a lot of games but had a rich dady to get him a RB coach so that we can say he has a good pedigree. Yeah that will make it all better.

Again I like Clausen for the future but this sh*t is out of hand. Starting to look like an Eagles message board.

No, our 1st team (note, this means D.Will) run game is not really firing on all cylinders. His career average is 5.1 yards a carry. He's 3.6 right now. This indicates some blocking problems, which is O-line.

Maybe they are just rusty... or maybe Davidson is holding his cards to the chest. IDK, but this isn't 1st team production that we need.
