There were morons on here that wanted us to bring Bill Polian back after he got fired by Indy. He's fuging 71 years old.

Age isn't an issue. He can, and very likely will, remain in the NFL for 10+ more years.

Being rumored that Beane won't even be retained at all.

Part of me wonders if the buzz that Beane was a serious candidate might have been floated by Beane himself, or via his agent. That could be seen as a reason to drop him.

Marc Garafolo of USA Today said in the end the Panthers chose Gettleman over Ross according to a tweet from The Drive.

Garofolo also says there's a guy named Matt Harris who works in the Giants FO that Gettleman might bring along as a possible "cap guy".

It's pretty clear that ol' Beanie was never in serious consideration for the job.

JR wasn't paying Ernie Accorsi a hefty fee to effin' hire BEANE.

Loved the logic of those that out of one side of their mouth accuse JR of being cheap, but out of the other side think he would hire Ernie Accorsi and pay him a hefty fee to do jack.

I've never thought the whole time that we would be going with Beane, as perviously stated: why would we bring someone in to do a GM search if we were just going to hire from within?

Matt Harriss (yes, apparently that's how it's spelled) is listed on the Giants website as Director of Football Operations (no bio).

Amusingly enough, that's the same title Brandon Beane held before being named interim GM.
