you're correct if it happens before the offseason officially starts... that said, as far as I've seen, it's merely a formality as I can't remember any time a coordinator has been denied the right to interview.

I figure if they wanted to fire chud, they just would have fired him... no point in keeping him around if you don't like him just hoping somebody else will take him off your hands.

You aren't understanding. They are not allowed to deny permission.

after a team's season is over and before march first if a team asks to interview one of your assistants for the HC job, you are not allowed to refuse them. not sure how that can be misunderstood.
