DT is a need but you should not reach for one.

#1 WR has been neglected since we drafted Smitty in 2000; far longer than the DT position(and we got lucky with Smith). We need to address that first in this draft.

I wouldn't mind it, but I am hearing that the draft should be fairly deep at WR. Moreover, we could probably make do with what we have (though I would hate it) if we had to. A beast at DT would be a nightmare for opposing offenses because it would free up Hardy and/or CJ to do their thing, which would in turn take pressure off the secondary (if not allow our ball-hawks to get some errant throws). It is my thinking that a DT would have a more immediate impact, and therefore allow our team to be more successful in the short term. Of course, if a WR is more of a game-changer, impact player or BPA, then you can't argue with that. Gett seems like a practical-minded, smart guy, so I am sure he'd be able to weigh it all out and come up with something to achieve maximum impact.

I don't disagree. the edwards wall was solid last season but dwan shouldn't be considered much more than hollis thomas was in 2009(?) ron is getting up there too.

I'd love to see offensive and defensive lineman in the first two rounds, and given the giants philosophy i think that's a safe bet

I'm hoping we bring in Mary Hurney as a draft consultant to make our first round pick.

DT is not the only position we lack a 1st or 2nd homegrown talent at. As of right now these are the following positions currently on the roster we personally spent a 1st or 2nd round pick on.

MLB:2(Keuchly and Beason)
HB:2(Williams and Stewart)
QB:2(Newton and Clausen)

Heres the other positions we have on the team that we spent a1st or 2nd round pick on.

T:Gross
CB: Gamble
OLB: Davis
FS:Martin(2nd)
LG: Silatolu
C: Kalil

So that leaves the following positions our roster does not have 1st or 2nd round pick we committed to.
WR
DE
SS
DT
TE

On defense we do have no immediate need at DE,LB,SS and maybe CB.

That means we must do something to fix our FS position and find a new NT(I think Dwan Edwards can suffice at least 1 more year at their tackle position). If a can't miss corner is there that should also garner heavy consideration.

On Offense.

The most immediate need is WR. Smith is close to hanging it up and Lafell is not on pace to takeover as a # 1.

The offensive line could use some upgrades on the right side and Gross is aging but I think we can find some help there outside of the first round.

I would personally rank our top needs as of right now.

1.WR-Cam needs another weapon in the pass game, ideally a new redzone target
2.FS- We have nobody that I think is 100% starting caliber here
3.DT- I think Ron Edwards is cut to save cap room so NT is slightly more of a need than under tackle(use Dwan 1 more year)
4.OL- RG could def. use an upgrade but with Kalil coming back we can slide Hangartner back their 1 more year if we must. Bell is still a question mark as far as long term answer. Gross is getting up their but does not require an immediate upgrade
5.CB- Norman and Thomas have some potential and Gamble is still solid but aging as well.

DT is the reason we lost to the Chiefs. That should be enough to make the need near the top of the list.

Kris Jenkins was a 3rd round pick.

That being said.
Knowing our new general manager loves big men on the lines, I expect both lines to be addressed this off season.

And that makes me very happy. Add in a CB and I'll turn into a rainbow.

No. He was a 2nd rounder.
