How many people were in car accidents yesterday?

There are stupid, irresponsible people in all facets of life.

They aren't, and shouldn't be, allowing private gun sales at the NC show today in response. I doubt that they ever will again. Rightfully so. Make anyone that wants to wheel and deal pre-register and setup a table prior to the general public being allowed in.

Speaking of cars. This is where requiring insurance like a car would come in handy.

This guy should not be allowed to own a gun from this point on.

Just another example of the reality of this nutty situation. People justifying their goofy hobby by hiding behind a very subjective interpretation of the Constitution. These people are the military eqivalent of the Hitler Youth, a last ditch band of goofballs delusional enough to think they are the last line of defense for "their country" - "their country" of course, being the one that President Obama is not welcome in.

Well it must be the first one because I'll bet there were a hell of a lot more car shows than gun shows yesterday and there weren't many reports of people being run down by out of control cars.

Sure there are accidents in both areas, and both groups have their obsessive types, but when older cars started becoming more restricted in terms of pollution and safety controls, the true devotees of the car side didn't resort to the stupidity of the gun hobbyists in their defense of the outmoded aspects of their hobby.

lets just do this for one year. sure it's radical but it would shut alot of folks up on either side and put so much to rest.

ban ALL guns for one year. no sales, no nothing. nothing grandfathered, you keep what you have and nothing else can be purchased from one year to the next.

see who things go and the following year, use the takeaways and proceed.

the reason we have these messes are also in large part to our elected officials on both sides who do a better job of playing both sides of an issue instead of both sides of the aisle.

Dumb thread.

No gun violence, just stupid people having accidents which you could apply to ski slopes, motocross, go karts, skateboarding, boating and just about everything in life. Accidents and injuries occur.

Gun violence, hah! Like ski violence.

Man who murdered his mother with a shotgun in 1995 and spent time in a mental institution obtains gun permit, passes background check, and buys ak-47 and 12 more guns.

Hmmm, 1 in 7 drivers in the US dont have insurance despite laws to the contrary.
You'd probably be lucky to hit 50% on guns.

Hey, fix the system. The system and the rules and the laws are paramount for the left even though the article says the guy got around the whole thing.

What about all the crap Obama just tried to cram down everyones throat? Think they will work perfectly?
Seems to be what the left wants to do is pass more laws. do they work or not?

Not really, just the real world impact will vary greatly from the intent.
Guns obviously moreso than cars to a great degree wont ever hit the books and be registered or insured.
Anyone have estimated percenatges on guns illegaly owned in the US?

I sense the sarcasm, however this wasn't an incident of gun "violence"...

I'd liken this to people showing up in the ER because they shot themselves in the hand with a nail gun...

A sensible solution to help limit these accidents at gun shows would be like I mentioned in that post. Just because I like guns doesn't mean I'm opposing sensible changes to protect folks, even us responsible gun folk, from jackasses who are careless with loaded weapons.

All this talk in other threads about taxes, liability costs, etc. etc. do nothing to solve the bigger problem.

As far as gun violence goes, there is no way to take guns out of criminal hands. We need to focus more effort into taking criminals off the streets, and then most gun folk wouldn't need to have as many guns anyways.

Also, this thread is as good as any, but when you have pigs doing things like this: http://www.wral.com/three-durham-police-officers-arrested-in-disturbance/11999150/
...I'll stand by my right, and everyone else's, to defend themselves against such disgusting abuses of authority. They're lucky it wasn't my house they forced their way into.

Sarcasm from Delhommey? Nooooo...

The one incident in NC stems from an idiot that didn't unload his gun before putting it away... that's not violence, it's stupidity. He shouldn't be allowed to have guns anymore. Pretty straightforward.

Enforce the laws that exist, keep guns out of the hands of people that don't need them as best you can, and as Bronn said, criminals are gonna do what they do no matter what, so short of a complete and total ban on all guns, that's not gonna change.

SANTA FE, New Mexico (Reuters) - New Mexico police on Sunday identified the teenager accused of killing five people in an Albuquerque home as Nehemiah Griego, the son and brother of the victims.
Griego, 15, used multiple weapons, including an assault rifle, to kill his family on Saturday night, police said. Griego is charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse leading to death, said Aaron Williamson, a Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department deputy.
Greg Griego, the brother of former state Senator Eric Griego was killed, along with his wife Sarah and three of their children.
All victims had multiple gunshot wounds, Williamson said. Assault weapons are legal in New Mexico, though state lawmakers are considering proposals to expand gun control laws and require background checks for nearly anyone buying a firearm. Yep, they sure know what they're doing.
The only reason there isn't a comprehensive database for firearms background checks is thanks to the NRA, their well funded lobbyists, and weak kneed, greedy politicians. When it comes to comprehensive databases, "the government" has extensive experience creating them. In fact, they have literally been doing it for centuries. So, "Yep, they sure know what they're doing".
