Now if you want to change unemployment you don't cut the $ you put a realistic cap on the weeks eligible. You offer to extend it and give loans/scholarships for people to attend trade schools.

Sounds like socialism. I say we need to open a minimum wage bootstrap factory.

I voted for McCrory.

I have begun to second guess my vote. Especially if he and the Republicans go through with the plan to stop the Medicaid expansion and prohibit the private insurance exchange.

He said he was all about creating jobs right?

A state-commissioned study determined that Medicaid expansion would create 23,000 jobs through 2021, along with another 23,000 spin-off positions, and inject more than $1 billion into the state’s economy.

Without the money, the state’s hospitals may face job losses because of the cost of charity care that would likely decrease if more people are insured. Don Dalton, a N.C. Hospitals Association spokesman, said charity care and unpaid bills amounted to $1.6 billion in 2011.

It is also estimated that it would increase revenue by as much as 500 million dollars.

All this is is a governor proving himself to be another guy on his knees sucking the party's dick instead of doing what is right for the state of NC.

Hopefully he will wake up like Gov. Scott did down in Florida and agree to do these important things even if they did come from the Obama administration.

And lets be honest, this is 100% about Obama and not the provisions of Obamacare itself.

Scott did it partially because his government has driven Florida into the toilet and everyone hates him now

But mostly because his buddies will make a lot of money

If you can eliminate positions and boost the pay in others...I'm for it. Sometimes mid-level managers aren't needed.

Usually in State Gov the mid level guys do 110% of the work.

Honestly I can't blame him for giving pay increase to his people. Most of us would do the same. Again, cost of living almost doubled in last 3 years. Some companies offer increased pay. Let me give you an example. Average Accountants Payable salary was around $36,000 4 years ago. While average General Ledger salary was $42,000. Now, big companies willing to pay $48,000 to Accounts Payable clerks and $60,000 to General Ledger. I know lots of people who got 5%-15% pay raises for this year alone. People demand higher pay and many companies willing to offer. It just a terrible decision to cut unemployment on his part, this will negatively effect economic growth.

I assure you they didn't need the money. State workers are mostly grossly under paid. There are a few dozen political hires padding their pockets

In the IT space state and commercial have about evened out. Which isn't supposed to be the case....govt workers should make less bc their benefits (long term) are something commercial sector people usually do not get

In the past yeah state bene's were the shizzle. They are slowly being eroded

Not to mentioned hiring practices are completely fugged. With new hire salaries outpacing established peeps by 20% and more.

FWIW IT is rumored to be on the chopping block.

This is a painful yet good move on one level. I will rouse those just milking unemployment. Not saying its a large # but some are.

Some think this will help pad reserves for when bad times come again and there will be money to pay ue again.

I'm torn. My wife was ue for sometime even with her masters and we needed every nickel at that time.

We need to expect more hard choices like this. Leadership will do the hard things where pandering does the popular ones.

Not many easy paths to take.
