Incognito rants on Twitter...

...until his lawyer tells him to shut his trap, then posts his lawyer's phone number on the internet.

Incognito tells Martin "The truth will bury you"

Incognito continues his Twitter tirade

Incognito finally zips it

The hump day Twitter tirade from Dolphins guard Richie Incognito is intriguing, revealing, and ultimately troubling.

“It’s who he is,” one league source opined to PFT regarding the question of why Incognito would attack Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin and his agent, Kenny Zuckerman, on Twitter less than a month before Incognito becomes a free agent — and possibly only days before Ted Wells’ report is released.

Still, at a time when Incognito is complaining about Zuckerman revealing private information to the media, Incognito has made a private, sensitive disclosure of his own on Twitter.  “FACT: Jonathan Martin told me he thought about taking his own life in MAY 2013 b/c he wasn’t playing well,” Incognito said.  “Told me he felt worthless.”

Accurate or not, what purpose does it serve to make that disclosure public now, especially as the Ted Well report inches closer to publication?

Meanwhile, Incognito has offered an arguably sarcastic apology for the statements contained in the oft-raunchy text messages with Martin that Incognito’s camp apparently leaked last week.

“I apologize to all of the women out there that I offended with my text messages to my close personal friend,” Incognito said.

Incognito hasn’t publicly apologized for — or even mentioned — his golf-course behavior toward a female volunteer that reportedly resulted in a cash payment to settle her legal claims.

After a Wednesday afternoon Twitter tirade against Jonathan Martin and agent Kenny Zuckerman that culminated in Incognito claiming that Martin told Incognito in May 2013 that Martin was contemplating suicide because of his poor play, Incognito pulled the plug, saying, “I have no further comment at this time. Please contact my attorney Mark Schamel.”

Incognito then provided Schamel’s phone number.

The decision to publicly post Schamel’s number, which likely will be flooded with calls (we didn’t post it here for that very reason), suggests that Schamel told Richie to knock it off, Richie wasn’t happy with it, and so Richie opted to comply in aggressive passive-aggressive fashion.

As one league source told PFT on Wednesday afternoon, “[Richie] just wants to have his way.  This is his way of stomping and holding his breath.”

Good luck convincing teams that you're a stable personality, pal.

I "care" in the sense that this may be the weirdest story I've seen come out of the NFL in a long time.

I was going to call the Browns story the weirdest...but that's probably the norm for them.

Guy really can rant all he wants. Hope that he can never get a job. Due to that. As really bullies less of them, the world is better off!

I understand why. If you read his final texts to Martin that were released he pleaded with him to come forward because the media were killing him an he may lose his job. Martin, on advice of counsel I'm sure, has kept quiet while Richie fries.

All I'm saying is I can understand where he's coming from if this guy you thought was a friend is keeping quiet while you are getting cast in a VERY unfavorable light. Especially in today's guilty until proven innocent society.

Granted I don't know the whole story, but based off the info I've seen I can understand, not condone, but understand the rage and where his frustration is coming from.

How are people still saying Incognito is the bad guy in this stupid story? Sure, he and Martin shared some vulgar texts but this whole thing is Martin's fault and he's just letting his friend get destroyed. Like someone else said, I understand why Incognito would be upset at this point. He's worked his entire life to get into the nfl and now his job is in jeopardy over his friend not sticking up for him.

Jonathan Martin might be going through some personal problems but he shouldn't be dragging his friend along with him.

Do you really think this is Incognito's first issue?

If so, you might wanna do a little reading.

(Hint: He was a colossal dumbass long before this story broke)

If his side of the story turns out to be true then how can anyone be critical of his reaction?
If somebody ruined my name, my reputation, made me lose my job and potentially future job opportunities , and caused me to be criticized and judged by tens of millions of individuals for something a friend made up or misconstrued then I dare say I would be completely justified if blowing off some steam wether that would be in tweets or private.

His past has nothing to do with the facts regarding the story though at this point. I am fully aware of his past (just as I'm sure any NFL enthusiast is at this point of the debacle) and I feel that after reading the text messages that Incognito is somewhat justified in calling Martin a pussy-ass bitch in the public forum. Martin's frame job on Incognito is visible to anyone with half a brain and an internet connection.

I mean, Martin totally is a spineless little beta-male who deserves nothing short of an old-fashioned ass whooping from a serious alpha-male in Richie Incognito. But hey, I'm one of those people who vigorously supports NFL players with abusive language coupled with violent behavior.

Incognito had done that LONG before this incident.

The scumbag apple doesn't fall far from the scumbag tree apparently.

Some quality investigative work concludes this may be Richie Incognito's father.

User "TheWalrus" decided to go back and look at idrd1994's post history, and found something interesting. idrd1994 "only talks about the offensive line, praises Jeff Darlington (who Richie 'trusted' to write the big feature on Richie) and constantly refers to Jason Smith, the legendary #2 overall draft pick bust of the Rams, who was taken when Incognito was there."

Then, more sleuthwork. TheWalrus found another post of idrd1994's where he talks about growing up in New Jersey and watching the Jets play at Shea Stadium. Richie Incognito was born in New Jersey, but after the Jets had already moved. Not too young to have seen the Jets play in Queens? Richie Incognito Sr., an active poster (under a different name) on Nebraska message boards when Richie Jr. played for the Huskers.

A Google search for "idrd1994" turns up a number of posts on RC car message boards, from a user claiming to live in Arizona—where the Incognitos moved when Richie Jr. was 11. "idrd1994" is also a profile on MyLife.com, registered under one Richie Incognito, age 63, from Glendale, Ariz.

Update: Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald spoke to the FinHeaven board administrator. idrd1994 registered with a date of birth of 12/14/1949, which matches Richie Incognito Sr.'s birthday.

idrd1994 has—at least according to what's accessible on the site—a brief but focused posting history on FinHeaven. His first few posts, beginning on Oct. 9, were all about the Miami offensive line. Then, on Nov. 2, when it emerged that the NFLPA was asked to investigate Martin's claims,

NFLPA IS NOT TOUCHING THIS WITH A TEN FOOT POLE. It will come out, Martin has tried to kill himself three previous times. The team is silent because they all know about it, from Ross on down to Ireland and Philbin. If anybody has seen the latest news the NFLPA has decided not to look into the case. Jonathan Martin has had mental issues since College, it will all come out int he wash gentleman, believe me.

On Nov. 3, after Incognito was suspended,

This is a joke, suspend an honest player for a drug addict and a player that tried to kill himself three times. Complete ****in utter BS and this team is just covering their ass. What a friggin joke. Strange only coments are from Zuckerman and not Martin himself. Irleand and Philbin should be ashamed of themselves, this is a ****in joke. Suspend a pro bowl player for a player that does not even belong in the NFL. FUKIN JOKE its all going to come out in the wash and Ireland should be ****in hung because he , philbin and everyone else knew Martin did drugs and attempted suicide three times. But hey, the regular people will never hear that right ? ****IN JOKE FOLKS, ****IN JOKE.
