#2833656 Vonleh Is A Wasted Pick!

Posted by SevyDamus on 27 June 2014 - 02:43 PM

This could POTENTIALLY be a wasted pick.

However, it could POTENTIALLY be an awesome pick.

Only time will tell.

U could literally say that about every player drafted in the first 15 to 20 picks. This is a broad & dumb meaningless thing to say.

#2817788 Jon Beason carted off field during non contact exercise.

Posted by SevyDamus on 12 June 2014 - 03:13 PM

Not really.

He had already been benched before he was traded, and he was getting paid way too much money to be a bench warmer. Add in the fact that he didn't wanna be here if he wasn't starting at MLB. Good as Beason was, he wasn't what he used to be, and there was no way he was getting that job back with Luke in there.

So you wind up with a 7th round pick, a little cap relief and a big contract off the books in exchange for a depth player. That's not really what I'd consider a bad deal.

I've wished him all the success in the world, but the team made the right decision.

I only hope this injury isn't severe.

Yeah, but he still costing us in 8 mill dead money. So for getting a full time starter we could've maybe got a 5th.

#2809609 How do some teams exploit the cap?/

Posted by SevyDamus on 05 June 2014 - 12:16 AM

Yes and no.

It really all comes down to value and the specific structuring of the contracts. For instance, if JStu and Williams were each still hitting 1k rushing yards a year I don't think we'd be throwing a fit (or at least as much) about their contracts. Granted the majority of their ineffectiveness is due to injuries and poor line play. If Williams and Stu were tearing it up on the ground we'd have a nice pair of runners to take pressure off Cam and wouldn't feel as great of a need for receivers.

What has really crippled us in particular with the Hurney contracts isn't so much the money itself as it is the inability to gain leverage over players. Way too much guaranteed money on the back end gives you no other choice than to just let the player stay on the team and eat at the cap. Football is such a volatile and dynamic sport that it is pretty darn difficult to predict a player's place on your team in 3+ years. The rules, way the game is played and level of competition change rapidly and injuries happen.

I don't know why your bringing Mr Richardson's "cheapness" into this considering we are pretty darn close to the cap limit every year. The salary cap actually does exist in the NFL, it is enforced, and we aren't the only team who can't sign a player due to cap constraints or has to let players walk due to said constraints.

History generally supports the notion that signing superstar free agents to superstar contracts usually leads to a let down and will limit your ability to have a deep roster. Dynasties and consistent winners tend to not go crazy in free agency and build through the draft. I'd like the Panthers to be a dynasty, therefore I believe we should aim for value and depth in free agency.

Well said! Glad somebody else sees the big picture. GMan definitely does I see what he's trying to do & so far its worked not just for the Cap, but developing young inexpensive talent to take over for the big veteran contracts. Everything is a process & he's hit more then he missed so far.

#2787143 Hardy 911 call

Posted by SevyDamus on 14 May 2014 - 05:29 PM

Looks like are boy Hardy did the right thing. Glad this came out. This kind of poo pisses me off about women & hardly ever any consequences come back from making false allegations.
To many men in America get falsely accused exactly like this especially if u have money from gold digging bitches. I have 8 sisters & respect women to the fullest, but laws need to be made to protect men from crazy ho's like this. No every female is not like this, but a lot are & until they start getting thrown in jail or charged this crap won't stop.
It's ridiculous when a man tries to do the right thing they still are guilty in the public eye because all anyone looks at is he assaulted a woman without any facts. Women bitch & moan about equal rights! It works both ways or it should, but in the legal system it doesn't. Hardy should be ok due to the 911 call which is great news & now I'm an even bigger fan.

#2780535 The blueprint for a Gettleman draft

Posted by SevyDamus on 11 May 2014 - 10:07 AM

GMan is building for the future so all these picks make sense in my mind. It's just to early to tell if they pan out. That's a process that could take a yr or so. So chill!

Not trolling. Just a guy not happy about our draft. I'm sure there I'm not the only one here.

Have u seen them play yet? Give them a chance & stop crying. Damn some of u fans bitch to much.

#2764381 Charles Godfrey Takes Large PAYCUT

Posted by SevyDamus on 06 May 2014 - 10:19 PM

For those pissed that we still have Godfrey, wtf?

He played well at within Rivera's scheme, and now we are paying him peanuts. Where is your head

Thank You! Someone else has common sense. This is such a solid move. GMan well done sir.

#2762809 Bill Polian talks about Dave Gettleman

Posted by SevyDamus on 06 May 2014 - 03:15 AM

I personally love GMan as the GM. He is working towards getting rid of the ghost of Hurney & don't expect under him to ever be in that cap situation again. He will not overpay for talent, he is very good at evaluating & filling team needs with what little wiggle room he's had. He's tough yeah, but that what this franchise needed. If your not producing to the level your getting paid why keep you. I also love the fact that him & Rivera believe in young talent & developing it. Always the biggest problem I had with Fox as a coach. With a solid draft & blessed health where be fine & another year closer to not being strapped for cash anymore.

James Hurst is going to be a STEAL in this draft.

*edited to add that was my 100th post and I wanted to save it for something I felt strongly about/in. I think James Hurst will be a 10 year all pro tackle.

Couldn't agree more with that statement. If I were to compare Hurst to someone it would be Gross. Hardworking solid guy not gonna wow you with athleticism or raw strength, however has great technique & just a all around Solid player. I'll take Moses, Lee, or Verrett in the 1st & probably try for Hurst in the 4th.

I think the biggest misconception people have with Gettlemen is that he is drafting rounds 1-7 for 2014.

Exactly right! GMan is drafting for the future. That's why we took Klein & Barner besides depth, but mainly to groom when the crappy contract are up. I love what GMan is doing

The officials did pretty good for the most part the 3 rd foul on JMac was whack, but overall legit. Was a good game Paige really has to do so much & would like to see Britt be more aggressive he broke the defense down a few times getting in the paint & dishing off. Britt passes better then Paige, but both need to get there heads up quicker & down the floor. Love the fight we showed. Good game! Good win Dook.

#2677754 Jason Verrett Scheduled to Have Private Workout With Panthers Friday

Posted by SevyDamus on 07 March 2014 - 12:12 AM

If we happen to Draft Verrett I'm willing to bet the house by the end of the season he'll turn all the doubters to believers. Fuller would be a reach to me in the 1st. Rather have Roby over Fuller. Roby has big upside jus needs better coaching on his techniques.

Yeah, comparing the size of a 5' 8" guy to that of a 5' 9" guy is idiocy at it's peak. Receivers are getting bigger, we have tall WR's in the division, so wanting a taller CB is completely outlandish.

You just can't stand to have your superior talent evaluation skills questioned, tons of proof in the draft forum.

Yeah & its hard to find really good tall CBs. Act like they grow on trees! Verrett is a beast & is would be a great addition no matter the size. Football players come in all shape & sizes. U know that right?

5'9" - 5'10" CBs

Darrell Green
Antoine Winfield
Asante Samuel
Alterraun Verner
Brent Grimes
Dre Bly
Nathan Vasher
Terrence Newman
Terrell Buckley
Ronde Barber
Pacman Jones

Thank U for posting that for some of these ignorant ass fans. He's 5'10 in shoes which isn't bad. I dare any Panther Fan to watch his tape & tell me your not impressed. While playing with a labrum injury most of the year. I've been saying for awhile now if he's there he should be are pick unless an OT falls or Dennard. Kid is a beast & would be legit with this front 7. Fuller would also be a good pick no problem there.

#2672706 Prove it Deal for Kenny Britt?

Posted by SevyDamus on 03 March 2014 - 01:04 AM

Cleanest, classiest? Seriously?

Cam Newton- Lying, cheating thief in college

Kerry Collins- enjoyed getting drunk & taking joy rides

Rae Carruth- hired hitman to kill girlfriend/child

Mark Fields- used his wife as punching bag

Steve Smith- sucker punched 3 teammates

Ricky Manning- best up cheerleaders then later assaulted a man while possessing a gun

....& the list goes on

Good points! To many Panther fans use this as a excuse not to go after certain players. The Pats have been doing this forever & the majority of the time it works along with many other teams that have been successful of late. Sometimes u have to take chances as we did with Mitchell who most love now, but had red flags coming from the Raiders. It's always gonna be a crap shoot just gotta hope the guys in the locker room can set the example & the Front office does their research & ask the questions they need answers to. Roll the dice sometimes.
