#2841062 2014 World Cup: Quarter-Finals

Posted by Delhommey on 06 July 2014 - 11:56 AM

Beginning to think the match fix talk is more than just talk... seems as if FIFA is getting exactly the matches and excitement they want.

Still not ready to don my tin foil hat yet, but I'm at least open to the idea now.

Ehhhh, you'd be hard pressed to say the 4 in the semis weren't the 4 playing the best, most consistent football in this tourney.

You could make a case that Brazil was helped to get by Colombia by the ref calling the match fast and loose, but that bit them in the ass losing Neymar.

Go watch how Argentina handled Belgium defensively vs the US did (1 shot on goal vs 26) and you'll see how much higher the overall talent level difference is. This is why the opening odds were close for about 4 or 5 teams and then it fell off a cliff.

Is the fact that Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State, and FSU always finish near the top in CFB a sign of fixed games?

#2840121 Why I will never work for a corporation again

In the past century there was a battle between labor vs capital and capital won big time. They were not gracious winners either.

That's what you're gonna see the rest of your life barring something revolutionary happening.

Let me give you a few tips for survival:

1. You are always a free agent: There is no loyalty anymore. If a company can fire you and replace you with someone or something that will do the same or near same quality work for cheaper, they will not hesitate. No matter what you should keep one eye on other opportunities, especially if you aren't tied down by a mortgage or family.

2. State what you want: no one has time to guess what you're looking for. Be bold.

3. Verbal promises are worth the paper they're printed on: until it is written down, it doesn't exist. The rest of your life will be filled with work happy hours with people bitching about not getting the promotion some tipsy VP promised them out golfing one day.

4. Work smart not hard: If you want to get promoted, find the high profile projects and knock them out of the park. Yes, there is day-to-day stuff that must get done, but hard work will never move you up the ladder. Hard work on the projects that make the VP's look good does.

That being said they won't give you those projects if you show up 20 minutes late everyday. Well, not unless you're the CFO's nephew or you're demonically smart.

5. Always make your boss look good: Always.

6. Always use all the vacation you can: Because why wouldn't you?

Can you imagine the press if Obama allowed American nuns to be raped, beaten, and murdered by allies and then billed the families thousands of dollars to repatriate the bodies like Reagan did?

I mean W basically created the second Iraq war out of thin air and flat out lied to the world to make it happen. I'm at a loss what Obama could have done to top that.

Oh. Of course.

BENGHAZI

Also the blackest president since ww2

I think that explains more why g5 is so giddy to post this than anything.

Howell pointed out DWSD is not threatening similar disconnections against corporate clients such as Detroit Public Safety, which owes $2.2 million in outstanding bills. Palmer Golf Club owes $2.2 million, the Joe Louis Arena/Red Wings Hockey $80,000 and Ford Field $55,000.

Everyone must have missed this part.

What's the difference between Tim Howard and Jesus?

Jesus at least had 11 guys he could trust.

i haven't followed soccerball for very long… are intentional draws commonplace in the world cup in situations like these? seems like it'd be rife with guys trying to sneak shots in when they can

Out and out collusion is unlikely especially as everyone and their mother will be looking for it. However, if the games tied with 15 minutes left to go and Ghana's up in the other match, don't expect either side to be rushing forward to score goals.
