#2741984 SB Nation Bloggers Draft

Posted by Pantherman on 17 April 2014 - 06:35 AM

Still think we should take Cyrus in the first, then come back and grab Cody Latimer in the second and Robert Herron in the 3rd.  Both are excellent receivers.  Just not sold on Lee.

Why Cryrus? The knee surgery this past year is a hugh concern for most teams to even attempt to take him in the first. He just ain't worth drafting the first. No matter how bad we need a tackle to replace Gross. Unless one of the top 3 tackles drop to us. No one after the top 3 is worth a first round pick. WR would be our best bet at 28.

#2737821 Panthers meeting with...a center from USC

Posted by Pantherman on 12 April 2014 - 10:41 PM

IIRC, next year is the worst at almost 12 M, but it goes down a bit after that.

It's still a very large number though, and one that we probably can't afford if we are trying to get Cam and Luke UC for the long haul.

Ummm Why can't we? DG already said he would use the 5th year option next year. Buy the time we get ready to talk long terms with Cam and Luke  in the next 2 years. The cap will increase another 20-30 million in the 2 years a long with getting Dwill and JStew both off the books and saving us another 10 million. We should have more then enough cap for Cam and Luke long contracts and without worrying about Khail contract.

#2716505 Some veterans will be major cut bait next season.. holy crap.

Posted by Pantherman on 26 March 2014 - 12:48 AM

Haha Man some of you are crazy if you think just because Hardy gets long deal CJ is gone after next season. Unless CJ get hurt big time this season. He want be cut. More likely thing to happen is his contact would get redone to lower his cap and extend him a few extra years. It would be dumb if DG release a solid producing 28 yr old. You just don't do that to one of best DE in the league. CJ, Khail, and TD both will be here in 2015 season. Trust me when I say they will. All 3 of them are to valueable pieces of this team.

#2714142 Panthers meeting with Brandin Cooks

Posted by Pantherman on 23 March 2014 - 11:52 PM

Here is my take. We don't know who will fall in the first round. When we think sometimes a person was going to go in the top 10, but instead they drop into the teens. It happens. I'm sure some on this board last year didn't think Star was going to drop to us at 14. But he did just that. So before you think this person or that person want drop to us. You would be surprise how lame some teams picks in top ten is some time. It has happen and it can happen any time. I'm sure there is a good chance Cooks will drop to us. We just have to wait and see. The draft is a funny business sometime.

#2711118 DeSean Jackson just posted a pic of him and Cam on Instagram

Posted by Pantherman on 21 March 2014 - 06:01 PM

With the jets just signing Vick it's only a matter of time before they trade for Desean

Jets just release Sanchez just now. They will be paying him a lot money this year for not playing with them. How would they be able to afford Jax now? Oh wait we are the only ones in the NFL working with a cap while everyone else get all kinds of money. lol

#2696005 Mario Manningham

Posted by Pantherman on 14 March 2014 - 07:23 PM

No and no. The guy is completely washed up. There is others good names out there way better them him. Miles Austin, James Jones and so on. Whether have those 2 then him.

#2686741 Steve Smith Will Not Be In a Panthers Uniform Next Season

Posted by Pantherman on 12 March 2014 - 12:40 PM

Note to all people saying this was a cap issue: it clearly wasn't. Gettleman wanted Steve gone, for whatever reason.

So yeah, Gettleman is a dick. Good luck re-signing Cam with nobody to throw to.

Ummm no DG is not a Dick. The guy is just doing his job. It ain't an easy thing to do. If you think you can do better then go apply for the GM job. I'm sure you could do better job. Right? I doubt it. It's business plain and simple.

#2684792 Car most likely spot for Nicks

Posted by Pantherman on 11 March 2014 - 05:43 PM

Yea seen that just now on twitter. Some people been asking for Nicks. They may get their wish. Hoping it is only for one season. Prove it type of contract.

#2683828 Smith Perspective: A Voth-man prophecy

Posted by Pantherman on 11 March 2014 - 01:35 PM

that's a fair point.  Still, in the end, the right thing is being done, and Getty is still on his learning curve,

Learning curve? WTF. DG ain't in no learning curve. The guy has been in the GM and scouting department for many many years. The guy knows what he is doing. The guy has help to build 6 SB winning teams. Including the Giants. The guy ain't learning. He knows  what he is doing from the start. Just some fans are over reacting and not giving DG time to do his work. FA ain't even started and everyone is thinking the sky is falling. People need to chill and let DG do his job and see how every thing pans out.

#2683791 Smith to 49'ers?

Posted by Pantherman on 11 March 2014 - 01:22 PM

Some people need to stop riding Smith dick. The guy has been great for us. But it is time to move on. If it means trading him to the 9ers for a 6th round pick and freeing up about 7 mill in cap space this off season. Then less do it. But I doubt the 49ers pull that trigger before 4pm. So Smith will most likey be release. But if anything happens before 4pm. Then I would be happy. We love you Smith and happy trails my good friend. Been nice having you. :)

#2680354 Hakeem Nicks: "I can see myself catching passes from Cam Newton" (amo...

Posted by Pantherman on 09 March 2014 - 02:55 PM

very true. this draft class is going to be murder on FA WRs value.

That's why I say Nicks will probably take a 4-5 yr deal around 30 mill 15-18 gtd and a 3-4 mill sign bonus. Then keep Smith and put him in the slot. Draft 2 WRs in the first 3 rounds of the draft and boom we are set at WR. All we have to do is take care of the the oline and our offense would be good to go. It would help us even more if DG and Hardy/Agent would get a long term deal done and free up some cap space for us. It would more easy on us.

#2679396 Mitchell, Ginn may hit the market

Posted by Pantherman on 08 March 2014 - 01:52 PM

in all my yrs of being a panther fan I had NEVER been impressed by our kick return game. That was until last yr! I think it would absolutely suck to lose Ginn. Mainly b/c we had tried so many times to find we he brought to the table & failed. The back end of our defense was arguably the weakest part of our game overall so I can't say I would be that upset to lose any of those guys. Although I do love Mitchell's fiery presence & he may have been the most consistent. Wish we could Keep them both but if I had to choose....hell idk! I'm torn 😕

Shows that you ain't been a Panther fan for long then. Because you would remember guys like Winslow Oliver, Michael Bates, and even Rod Smart, AKA He Hates Me.

#2679378 Mitchell, Ginn may hit the market

Posted by Pantherman on 08 March 2014 - 01:45 PM

I see Mitchell leaving might hurt us more the Ginn would. Ginn is an avg at best WR and a good return guy. We can always find another return guy in FA. Devin Hester comes to mind. Hester might be getting old. But he can still produce on the return. But Mitchell would hurt more then anything. Hope we can resign Mitchell before Tuesday. Hurney is laughing at us big time right now. Dang him. Hang the mother fugger.

#2679304 Panthers Interested In Eric Decker and Hakeem Nicks

Posted by Pantherman on 08 March 2014 - 12:58 PM

so you think cutting smith would give the $$ to sign the both of them? You're delusional! Wo would only recoup a/b 2 million dollars by doing it & we'll still be paying him 3 mill over the course of the season. Stop w/ all this it's time to move on crap when you clearly don't even know what "moving on" from him actually means. Nicks said he grew up watching Smith & I doubt he would even still wanna come here if we cut him. The best option would be to keep him, put him in he slot, & make Nicks the #1. Decker is out of the ? Either way. there's no "hoping" he won't want a lot of $ cuz if he didn't he would jus stay where he is

lol Wow! Calm down. Are you Steve Smith wife or something? lol And yes I do know what moving on means. It means not looking at the past. Smith is still can get it done sometime. But he ain't Smith of the old. Your one of those fans who can't seem to let loose of  once favorite player. Smith will always be a Panther. But it is a business and not a love affair. If you want to compete for a SB year after year. You can't hold onto a player who is old. Time to replace him with a younger player who can produce. Decker could be that person. You want know until you sign him and get him on the field with Cam.

#2679214 Panthers Interested In Eric Decker and Hakeem Nicks

Posted by Pantherman on 08 March 2014 - 11:57 AM

Clayton said that our interest in Decker would be contingent on us cutting Steve Smith. No thanks.

Most of us love and respect Smith for his years of service. But time to move on from Smith. Decker is much younger player and pretty good WR. He ain't great, but he is solid. At this point Smith is old and just about finish. If some how we can land both Nicks and Decker for a reasonable price. We should take it. Even if it means letting lose Smith. Time moves on and does to the Panthers. The NFL is a business and all the players understand that. Some fans just don't.
