It was almost unstoppable @ 6th best in the NFL iirc
I cant find the stat but we had an incredible amount of Touchdown drives that went 80+ yards. We may have even been #1 in the league in that. We almost always started at the 20 due to our poor D and I remember feeling confident we would score a TD whether we were at the 20 yard line or not.
Since then our offense hasn't been anything close to that explosive. We had a true #1 and a second pass catching TE along with the third best run game in the league.
If we can get our run game back up to par which I believe we can this season, a top 5 running game isn't out of the question by any means. I would almost say it is likely we end up top 5 in rushing this year.
We have a second pass catching TE, while not on the level of Shockey he gives us a threat unlike Hartsock. Just having an extra guy you know can throw to, to make a play is huge for Cam.
With KB, JC, and Fade I believe our top 3 this season is far and above better than the group we had last season. We don't know what we are getting yet with these 3 in Panthers uniforms but we know what we got from Smith, LaFell and Ginn. Fact of the matter is they were more liabilities to us than assets. That game against the Cardinals, LaFell drops that easy pass that would have moved the chains. Could have changed the game. At the Bucs, Ginn lets a perfectly placed bomb from Cam go through his arms. Smith dropped passes Smith wouldn't drop and now Cam is the big dog of the offense.
Our receivers made some big plays last year but it takes 10 atta boys to make up for 1 fug up. Do the math. They didn't make up for all the fug ups. I believe we have the guys to make the clutch 3rd down catches and the guys to spring the occasional big play.
Its all about our offense stepping up this year, bottom line. Top 15 offense, top 5 defense. 12-4. 12th in passing, 4th in rushing.
