#1822847 The Truth About Cam Newton's Impact on the Carolina Panthers

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 11 July 2012 - 08:56 AM

so is ncguy2184 actually james dator or was that meant to be a quote?

good read, btw. i would like to read that mike tanier letter to cam, though. looks good.

interesting things pointed out. people say that cam was able to take advantage of an ill prepared league of defenses because of the lockout, but if that was the case, why wasn't dalton and The Golden Calf of Bristol able to do the same. sure, their teams won games but statistically they just didn't stand out all that well. if it was just because of how bad defenses were that cam did well, why didn't every QB?

i've never bought into the unprepared defenses theory, but not every qb was asked to do what cam did.

The Golden Calf of Bristol and dalton were only required to manage games. unlike cam, they weren't asked to carry everything on their shoulders.

cam was the centerpiece for carolina. dalton and The Golden Calf of Bristol were just pawns. the only thing they were required to do was lean on the rest of the team and not lose games.

if either one of them were asked to do otherwise, they would have done worse than what they did.

on the flip side, if cam newton was only asked to manage games...would he have been as successful?

#1805519 Should the Carolina Panthers be the "North Carolina Panthers"?

i live in sc and travel between the 2 states on a regular basis. to be quite honest, there's not much of a difference between either state...except most south carolinians don't bother to go to myrtle beach, but apparently north carolinians do.

So The Golden Calf of Bristol hits a WR on a 15 yard crossing route, the receiver stiff-arms the man covering him and outruns another DB for an 80 yard TD and The Golden Calf of Bristol gets the credit?

yup....just like every other qb in the league.

i'm happy for all of them.

#1521248 my 2000th post...another stewart countdown

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 15 November 2011 - 04:39 PM

i'm bored, it's my 2000th post, and i haven't done this in awhile...

1. stewart needs 248 yards to move into the number 2 spot on the panthers' all-time rushing leader's list.

2. he needs 762 yards and 6 tds to get back on his franchise record pace.

i don't see the second happening, but he needs 35.4 yards from here on out to accomplish the first.

Jarrod Allen: He beat Gross badly yesterday and cause 2 turnovers.

allen didn't cause the first fumble, he recovered it.

ej henderson sacked/forced the fumble the first time...blame deangelo williams for trying to play pity-pat instead of blocking. henderson went around him like he wasn't even there.

#1470478 /r/nfl trying to say Dalton deserves RoTY over Newton

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 18 October 2011 - 02:59 PM

Downward slope? So Cam is doomed to slide to mediocrity?

Consistency? Did you see Dalton's first halves at the Bills or Colts, or his meltdown against San Fransisco?

This is not a Panthers fan forum.

as usual, people want to read more than what's right in front of them...and nit pick to back up what they think they see.

You beat me to it. We will get some headlines after this evening.

the media will talk about the rest of the nfcs failing more than carolina succeeding.

rivera and company don't know who anyone is...that's why they evaluate people.

to say they won't bring in a "fox" guy is ridiculous.
