#3190763 Seahawks to make Russell Wilson highest-paid QB

Posted by CanadianCat on 10 January 2015 - 02:04 PM

Obviously. Every QB that is >average will be the next 'highest paid QB'.

This is not rocket science. Newton will also probably the highest paid QB, and then Wilson and then Luck and then Tanniehill etc etc

Maybe that's part of Gettleman's thinking. Knowing that Newton’s contract is coming up, perhaps he wants to get rid of all of the dead money and get his salary cap house in order before doling out a big deal to his talented signal caller

#2408230 Affordable Care Act

Posted by CanadianCat on 04 October 2013 - 07:43 AM

My thoughts - as a Canadian..

- Being north of the border and having grown up in a country where healthcare is free, I would never want to see it any other way - even if it would reduce the taxes I pay.

- Knowing that anyone can walk in off the street and get care at a hospital is a good thing. In the ER waiting room I am no more special then a minimum wage McDonald's worker and they no more important then a homeless person. Priority is dealt with my severity of the situation.

- Cancer treatment is free (to my best understanding)

- Yes there are flaws in the system. But people have the right to life.

I know one of you guys said they this new tax would cripple your business but if everyone in the US has to pay the same tax then your all on the same playing field. Canada has a high tax rate, significantly higher than the US, but Im not seeing our businesses leave for the US and even with higher taxes or economy (albeit much smaller then the USA) is much STRONGER and secure.

Basically where Im going with this is that change is hard and can often seem like its the end of the world but in the end, social programs like this are better for your country as a whole..

#2398943 Rookie Review: Star Lotulelei - ESPN

Posted by CanadianCat on 25 September 2013 - 07:20 AM

The Panthers have received a strong early return for Lotulelei. He has started all three games while registering nine tackles and a sack and has made his presence felt on the interior. Lotulelei has been stout defending the run and has created disruption in the backfield while also showing impressive range.

At 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds, Lotulelei’s best trait at Utah was defending the run and showed flashes of dominance in this area on tape. He possessed the ability to anchor as a one- or two-gap defender. Lotulelei also displayed heavy hands and raw power both in his lower and upper body and rarely gave ground at the line of scrimmage.

Lotlulelei did not have ideal production as a pass rusher throughout his career at Utah. However, he did register a career high five sacks as a senior after notching just two during his first two seasons with the Utes. Lotulelei still needs to work on maintaining quality pad level off the ball as a pass-rusher, but he continues to develop in this area. He has displayed the ability to collapse the pocket with a bull rush while also showing quick hands to win in combat. He has also shown flashes of being able to disrupt the passer, which included him notching his first career sack against the Giants on Sunday. Lotulelei also has raw strength to go with his above-average agility. What Lotulelei showed on tape is what warranted comparisons to another interior lineman: Baltimore Ravens DT Haloti Ngata

Ngata was bigger and was about 25 pounds heavier coming out than Lotulelei. He also had exceptional athleticism. I have had several conversations with Ngata’s former coach at Oregon Mike Bellotti, who has said pound-for-pound Ngata was the best athlete he’s ever coached.

Lotulelei does not have the same type of athleticism, versatility and has a long way to go to even be considered in the same conversation as the Ngata, the two-time first-team All-Pro. However, they shared a lot of similarities coming out of school, which included Ngata following a similar path in 2006 where he remained on the board until the 12th overall pick.

Kurb- Editied.

Don't post the entire article ever, especially one behind a paywall. :)

#2395855 Cam's Attitude

Posted by CanadianCat on 23 September 2013 - 08:21 AM

I'm very impressed with Cam’s demeanor this year.  Listening to his press conference after the game you can tell he has really matured this offseason.

Exactly what I want to see from our franchise QB

#2388567 Suck for Luck! errr...

Posted by CanadianCat on 19 September 2013 - 02:16 PM

How many of you are actually hoping for a loss this weekend?

You guys make me sick.

Sure seems like more than half this board is hoping we lose just for the ‘chance’ Rivera gets fired.

We are in week 2. We still have 90% of the season left. We can go into the bye with our staff intact and make adjustments. You guys are making it feel like 2010 again when we wanted to suck for Luck (look how that turned out)..

I'm not a Rivera apologist and wouldn’t be sad if he got fired but who is to say that things will get better when he’s gone?

Realistically we need an offseason to get the new coaching staff but I'm not and cannot go through another season feeling like 2010 again.

#2306282 2014 cap space and resigning concerns and questions

Posted by CanadianCat on 31 July 2013 - 03:30 PM

Good write up.

Unfortunately we all know major faces to the franchise need to be let go in order to help us moving forward. We need to really enjoy this year because the next off-season might be a bit rough.

It stands to reason that if our DT group plays to their expected potential that it makes one of the 2 DE positions less important.. thus we let Hardy walk and see what we get from Alexander..
