I would still go to college if I had to do it all over again, but maybe do a different path, like going to a community college to figure out what I wanted to do. I was fortunate enough to get scholarships and I only have to pay back my summer school loans, so I get to avoid the horror stories of student loan debt.
For me, college was a chance to escape the hellhole that was Roanoke Rapids. It gave me a chance to experience something different. Just having a degree did help me land my current job, but now as others have already said it's about experience. That's the most frustrating part, trying to get that experience for entry level work.
I still see the purpose of a college education but its quickly becoming overpriced. It seems like at times you are just buying a piece of paper for 100k and a "promise" to have an advantage when applying for jobs.
