cops expect to be treated as selfless heroes despite being literally the exact opposite lol. they are foot soldiers for capital and the response from UPS, not naming the worker killed but thanking the police for killing him, proves it. i agree that cops want that adrenaline rush, they want that power trip, and they know that they won’t face real consequences for their actions but we have to talk about why that is. those cops sure weren’t protecting the public, and i would say they weren’t directly protecting the jewelry store or ups. that shits insured and they bloodied it all up anyway. they were protecting the institution. swift and severe consequences for threatening capital. 80+ cars in pursuit and estimates of over 200 shots fired despite the hostage and innocent bystanders. capital above all. irredeemable sellouts.
this is the only way forward. no more funds for “training.” no more “sensitivity” and “implicit bias” training. calls for reform complete miss the core function of policing in america (intentional or not). we have to start over and it has to be accompanied by a complete restructuring of society.
