I hate to tell you this, but we're almost certainly not winning the SB this year and may not even compete for a playoff berth. I literally only care about four things this season. 1) Make the call on Bryce. He finally looked like an actual NFL QB in the second half of last year but we're rapidly approaching the point we have to make a decision if he's the guy or we need to move on and swing again. 2) Development of young pass catchers. We've spent a lot of draft capital and have a lot of unproven young bodies, who's gonna rise to the top. 3) The young rookie pass rushers. How are they looking? 4) Just overall continued development of the team and the staff. I want to see that we're heading in the right direction. Jalen Coker potentially helps with #1 and #2. Where does Devin Lloyd help? Arguably #4? Maybe? I'm keeping Coker. I have zero desire to keep trying to duct tape together the best bad roster we can manage.
-
Now I will concede here. If Panthers decide they will not pay LBs, Coker is a better fit.
-
Bro he is not a disappointment. He's very durable and PFF loves him (which the Panthers are big fans now....)along with being right there in top categories. He gotten better each year as well, I don't know why jags want to go a different path, Panthers can gain for it. If Panthers remain healthy, Coker will not be active most gamedays. He's not a STer, horn kills him there. How many targets will Coker see this season? TDs? What's your guess?
-
With this organizations history of paying LBs the last thing I want to do is trade a promising young WR for a disappointing former 1st round LB going into a contract year. Sounds like a recipe for salary cap disaster to me.
-
Panthers will only activate 4 WR on gameday- AT, TMac, XL, and Hunter. Huddle- "Coker on the bench is much better than Lloyd getting 70 snaps 10tacs leading the Defense" I will bump this thread each week Coker is inactive
-
Into the 20s! So from 32 to 29? Oh damn! Let's go!!!! Dude, he's a 1st round disappointment who the second worst D in the league is ready to punt on. We have no idea what we have at WR in our youngsters. Bryce is going into what should be his final prove it year. Yeah, I'm definitely sticking with the promising young WR. I have no idea why Coker wasn't in Minnesota and I honestly don't really care.

MLB Devin Lloyd for WR Jalen Coker??
Dave Gettleman's Shorts replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Raheem blackshear and a 5th for Lloyd -
I see that since they are all cokeheads with no future vision!!
-
2/3 of the huddle would grab it given the chance

Check my stuff above........ this is a weird deal bro.....

That's true. There are rare cases where teams still resign them, but its around 1-2% odds.
-
It kindof does.
-
You are quite literally the only person in this thread that thinks this is even remotely good idea. Let that one sink in
-
Them not picking up his 5th doesn't mean they are ready to move on from him.
-
You know Panthers have the worst LB unit in the league, this move would boost them into the 20s by just adding Lloyd. Jags maybe the old jags, they make mistakes or follow the new league and don't want to invest cap space into LBs. Either way they have a huge need/want at WR while having a surplus of LBs and that fits with what the Panthers have. No one wants to answer my questions, why wasn't Coker with BY and the whole WR crew at ATs bro retreat bonding?
-
Is a great trade. Its works for everyone and increase each teams win % odds.
-
The Jags had the second worst defense in the league last year behind us and they're ready to punt this guy. That kinda says it all. No thanks, I'll keep my young WR who has shown some promise especially considering we only have two proven WRs on the roster one of whom is trying to work his way back into the league after a two year health related absence.
-
How many TDs will Coker get with Chubba, Dowdle, Etienne, JT, Tremble, Evans, AT, XL. Tmac, Hunter, Moore, and Horn in 2025?? How many Recs?
-
It's a bad deal.
-
No panic, just a move that works for the Panthers and works for the Jags.
-
The price is one year of Lloyd, whom they don't view as a future piece. Potentially Coker is a solid #2-3 WR and Jags have holes on WR #2-6. It fill a big need for the jag and they retain 2 years of a cheap contract. Trade works great for each team= win win win

MLB Devin Lloyd for WR Jalen Coker??
The NFL Shield At Midfield replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah if a few things break the wrong way (Legette doesn't take the next step, AT decides to hang it up, the Renfrow project doesn't work out) we're leaning hard on TMac, Jimmy Horn, and who else, like David Moore going into 2026? Don't deal somebody like Coker just to make a bad defense slightly better. You have a cheap, young corps growing up together right now. As it stands our WR corps is looking promising but it isn't like we're the Bengals with Higgins and Chase either, where we've got two number 1 WRs we can lean on and put low risk/high reward late round and UDFA receivers under them on the depth chart to see if we hit on one. In a lot of ways we don't truly know what we have yet. On paper it looks good but, well we've seen that before. -
This smells of BS. TBH, the whole story smelled of them trying to duck his contract.
-
Panic moves are Rhule/Fitterer stuff. LB may not work out this year, so be it.
