  1. I love the second round of this draft, so if we trade down I'll be happy if we get a second. I don't know Fitterer and Rhule's blueprint for building this team, and in what order they plan to address positions. That makes it impossible to really venture a good guess if we'd spend a 1st on a CB right now with the o-line lacking a LT. Fox/Hurney went Jordan Gross in 2003, and then Chris Gamble in 2004. LT > CB. Our marquee players are CMC and DJ. They have to explode for this team to win. A LT helps protect our QB who might be seeing ga ga ga ghosts, and helps CMC as well. I think 2022 will be our #1 CB draft year. We do need someone to slow down the lethal WRs we face in the NFCS. We can't go through 2021 with this being the narrative: "Darnold would be good if the Panthers protected him. They're ruining Darnold just like the Jets." That can't happen. No CB is worth that. The ball goes all over the field in the 4th quarter no matter who you have at CB. Fix the passing offense first.
  2. CB Kelvin Joseph might be around with our second pick. He covered 1st round prospect Devonte Smith well.
  3. It's not Huddle lore. Rhule said in an interview after Marty was fired that he was interested in trading down and Marty taught him that when your guy is there you need to take him (referring to Brown). Something to that effect.
  4. If we don't the QBs available 8 (if any) then trading down for an extra second round pick would be fantastic. The second round in this draft is loaded with awesome prospects.
  5. Good rule of thumb, if the source isn't cited, then you can guess who the source might be.
  6. Sports journalist's generic list of lies for the Panthers draft (2021 close your eyes and point edition): - Sources tell me the Panthers are going to make a big trade to go up to draft Wilson. - Sources tell me the Panthers will stay put and draft a WR. - Sources tell me the Panthers are high on Fields and want him at 8. - Sources tell me the Panthers want to trade down because they need more picks and don't like the QBs. - Sources tell me the Panthers _____________
  7. These articles are made up on the spot. Please don't try and make sense of all of them. They all say something different because it's all fiction.
  8. If Trey is there at 8, then I could see NE wanting to trade with us, or Fields would also generate interest. Chase or Sewell might light the phones up. If we don't like Lance, and Sewell is gone then that's a tough position.
  9. Person doesn't know our draft plans. FFS. Drafting a CB in the 1st round would be a body blow to this franchise. What a waste. Our 1st pick should involve improving our passing attack. When the 4th quarter rolls around and it's time to air it out you need pass protection and weapons. CB in the 1st is a luxury pick for teams that are loaded on offense.
  10. I was excited when we signed Russell Okung because he, aside from being established as being really good, was that he's 6'5" with 36 inch arm length.
  11. I'd ideally like a LT around 6'8" with a 36 inch arm length. Slater is 6'3" with a 33 inch arm length. A little risky for LT.
  12. Slater's arm length - 33in Jordan Gross' arm length - 33.25in Sewell's arm length - 33.25in They all have/had short arms for the position. This draft doesn't have an ultimate perfect LT as far as measurements are concerned, but they can still have great careers.
  13. The second round of the this draft has some awesome prospects. Getting an extra second rounder would be really sweet. 3rd round not so much.
  14. Gregory Rousseau Eric Stokes Levi Onwuzurike Ifeatu Melifonwu Trevon Moehrig Alex Leatherwood
  15. As a fan I don't want Darnold to have excuses for playing poorly. That's part of the reason I want a better o-line. We can't evaluate any QB behind a poop o-line.
  16. Yes I said they were both bad. I just made that comparison because it popped into my head. No point behind it.
  17. Hurney: Round 5, Pick 143: Josh Norman, CB Gettleman: Round 5, Pick No. 141 – CB Zack Sanchez But yes they were both bad.
  18. I'm just grateful Gettleman is gone. When you're missing at the top of the draft it's just brutal, and he was bad in later rounds as well. And his free agent signings should have landed him in jail. In 2016 Gettleman's draft was horrific: Round 1: Pick No. 30 – DT Vernon Butler - OMGGGGGGGGG Round 3: Pick No. 77 – CB Daryl Worley - Couldn't guard anyone and drew PI penalties left and right. Round 5: Pick No. 141 – CB Zack Sanchez - Cut quickly and looked high school quality. Round 7: Pick No. 252 – TE Beau Sandland - Who????
  19. Just FYI for young football fans who might be on this forum, please don't be fooled by phony sports journalists. They make stuff up and pretend like they have inside information on who will be drafted by which teams. NFL teams, unless they have the #1 over pick, don't go around leaking out who they are taking in the draft. That could harm the team due to trading or other reasons. The draft targets remain a secret until the pick is made.
  20. If the Bengals are letting out who they are drafting then they're pretty stupid.
  21. 1.) I'd trade down if possible if Chase were there at 8. I think Chase is a bit overrated in the media, so he's more likely to be there at 8 than most people think imo. 2.) Practice and competition decides who starts. 3.) I would not play DJ in the slot.
  22. Here is the latest CBS mock. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2021-nfl-mock-draft-raiders-lions-snag-elite-receivers-pushed-down-due-to-rising-quarterbacks/ I've seen plenty of mocks with Chase falling to us, but I don't think it's the most likely scenario by any stretch.
  23. If Sewell is gone we could take Chase and then go with possibly Leatherwood in the second. Or trade down and get more picks. We're either taking a OT in the first or the second.
