THIS ^^^^ I think our defense is going to be the talk of the NFL after Sunday. We have a lot of pieces. Many players are able to move around. IE Chinn up to LB or Burns dropping back into coverage. Solid players along the d-line and a back end to back it up. I know preseason is not a prediction for the season but our defense gave up 13 points in the first half TOTAL. The only touchdown came at the end of the 1st half against Indy. In the 1 game the defensive starters played. We gave up 60 total yards in the first half on 6 drives with 1 INT. (19 total plays) I expect to see Thieves Avenue reborn in a big way in 2021. I'm excited and will be more disappointed if the defense plays poorly than if Darnold doesn't play well. Wilson may be the future but he's about to get a taste of what a Good NFL defense is all about.

I was able to catch glimpses of a couple of games and saw a few QBs that have an "IT" factor. I wouldn't be surprised to see 5 or 6 rated first rounders by the end of the season. We'll see. Howell stock may have dropped a bit after the Va. Tech loss.

So many of us focus on the offense which may be hindered by the offensive line. Our weapons are elite if you ask me so if Darnold can hang in there with our Oline we'll score some points. Our defense is what I think will make or break us. We'll be in every game if this defense is as exciting on the field as it is on paper. I believe the defense carries us to an extra win or two and we'll be between 10-7 and 12-5.

So you think PJ is the answer at QB. This is a guy that couldn't make an NFL roster before now. IMO the only reason why he is still on the team is Rhule has familiarity with him from Temple. His ability to escape pressure is admirable but his accuracy is insanely terrible. While he might win a game or two against a sub-par teams. NO WAY IS HE THE ANSWER in the long run. I'm in agreement with @rayzor not only because of your infatuation with PJ but you rarely comment positively on any topic and it appears you post just to annoy the true fans on this forum. I don't always agree with posts on this forum but I try to back it up with facts. You mostly post on feeling and never provide reasonable data to back up your claims. That's my opinion.

The rule of the trenches is my concern. As most of us realize our O-line will dicate our success. I am hoping that a gameplan will be in place to help our weakness on the O-line. Defensively, we have monsters and against the pass I think we are going to be really good but all that goes to waste if we cannot stop the run.

I get your point but they may not be better but maybe, just maybe they are equal and will be better once they get on the field. If the rookie is going to play at the same level to start with. Why not put them in and let them get better than the Vet.

It is way to early to predict this. We have tons of weapons and a defense that can be really good. If the defense can carry this team while we figure out a way to resolve our offensive line problems we have a chance to be in the playoffs. Our offense will score some points. The defense is stingy we could win alot of close games. That's just me. Always optimistic and try to see the good things we have going for us.

My biggest fear is that we roll with the line long enough to ruin our chances for the playoffs than Rhule pulls a Rivera and puts the young guys in and we start to dominate. One or Two games too late.

I'm 61 and If we could win one in 5 years guaranteed and never win another one I would have to pass. Pulling for the Panthers and following them year around has become a habit for me. Rarely does a day go by where I don't log in here and see what is going on. From the day the season begins in March, through the draft, OTAs and Minicamp through Preseason I follow this team. Once the season starts I am always optimistic that we might do well enough to make it to the playoffs. I work my schedule around so I can watch games. If they aren't on TV I find a site to stream them from. Sometimes I have to stay up until midnight just to watch them play. it would be too frustrating to know with all the great talent that we may draft in the future I would never see another championship. I may never see us win one but I would enjoy it more knowing we have a chance every season.

You know Brady and Brown may have problems initially but they will grow as they play. I think there is a far more upside to let these players learn and grow with game time experience. I do believe, based on what I have read, that Brown and Christensen can do no worse that what we are proposing to put on the field.

I agree, but from what I saw in preseason Winston looked good. Obviously it was preseason with no gameplanning. I think what many teams will do is bring lots of pressure and make him make bad decisions. However, if he doesn't get rattled he might do well. I hope he bombs but you can't ignore that Payton might be able to control him. If he can, New Orleans could do better than most expect.

The Saints are interesting. If Winston somehow overcomes his turnover issue he could be a dangerous QB. He has some weapons and Payton, as much as I hate him, is probably the one coach that can get him under control. They could be really good or abysmal. Depending on Winston.

Think it is just that easy? We'll see how accurate you are. T. Taylor is set to start game one. Either way, it's no skin off my butt. I wanted him before his issues but there is no way in hell I would give up 3-1st and multiple 2nds for a player that has all these legal issues. I

Of course they don't want to trade him but what is their option. Is Watson going to put stats up holding the clipboard?(which I doubt he'll do) or being a sideline distraction? Watson has made it clear he doesn't want to play for Houston. I guess this is turning into a who has bigger balls.

It's the audacity of the Texans to demand the same or more draft capital for Watson regardless of his legal status. I have heard 3 first and 2 or 3 seconds. It's insane demands for someone who could miss this year and possibly a year long suspension from the NFL. Who wants to trade for a QB who could not see the field again until 2023.

Those targets alone should help him. Teams start to focus on our wide outs the TE will be matched with LBer. Arnold will feast and Tremble will get his moments. He won't lead the league or anything but those big targets are going to help his stock as a receiver.

I would imagine that is a bottom line issue to. I'm sure if a team has to forfeit than they lose a lot of money.

I completely understanding any player that decides not to get vaccinated. However with the rule about forfeiting of a game due to a Covid outbreak I also understand why teams may use the vaccination a factor on whether to cut a player or not.

You know most insurance companies will pay for new glasses. Cause you ain't seeing right. PJ is a scrambler and couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a banjo. Darnold, with a blindfold on would still be more accurate than PJ on his best day.

Add 6 more from 2020 and our talent base is getting younger. Pride is on IR so he's not included but he would make 7.

I am hoping that he contributes sooner than later for this team. He's a solid blocker and will help a ton in the running game. I also think his receiving skills are highly underestimated.
