This is my thought, and perhaps why we seem to so crazy dead set on getting a franchise QB this year. Even with Teddy, this team will win more games next year, moving us even further away from the top of the draft. It's very close to a now or never situation. I do agree with Linville that if we can get an extra first for next year, especially from a team we think might draft in the bottom next year, we have to consider that if we can't get a QB this year. However it would suck if we two firsts next year and the QB class stinks.

ESPN's David Newton talks defensive flexibility
Captain Morgan replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Considering the job our new coaching staff did with what they were given last year, I can't wait to see what they can do with these guys....and a freaking off season. -
They should have won more than one Super Bowl with a Hall of Fame QB and everything they did to support him, so this is indeed laughable. They can laugh at us for not winning a Super Bowl yet, but this little factoid makes me smile.

don't mind giving up DG, hate to lose PJ. Still, we have to address the post and fast.

heading into the offseason, I wanted this guy but didn't think we could afford him. And here he is. Best news of the month so far.

Hornet have a 4 game winning streak, but a tough game tonight against Denver.

good post. Two things....if you have your franchise qb and he's not on a rookie contract, this is the model for future NFL teams. They cost so much money after their rookie contracts that it is very difficult to keep good players around. When that QB is nearing the end of his career, like Brees, teams can push the money forward to give a few last shots at a ring. The Saints gambled with the last few years of Drew's career, and they lost. Now they face the future will little cap room, and no QB, so they'll keep drafting till they find one. So will we, which is why Tepper is so intent on getting Watson. We've got the future cap space available to pay him, and he's gambling on Rhule's ability to develop our draft picks rather than go shopping for big money FAs. Second, while there may be an actual reason for Taysom getting the 140 mill that will never happen, I took it as a little jab at the rest of the NFL, saying, "we know we can do this." If that's true, it pretty funny. Still, fug the Saints. I'm going to enjoy watching them try to find a QB. The next Drew Brees ain't walking through that door.

Hornets interested in Myles Turner
Captain Morgan replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Charlotte Hornets
good info guys. Sounds like just what we need. -
but we're not the only ones. The Charlotte Hornets are currently riding a four-game winning streak and continue to look like a playoff team. Their most recent victory was close, and the team lacked paint defense for a majority of the game. With the teamโs need for defense in the paint, it has prompted the Hornets to look at other center options. On Tuesday, J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star reported that the Hornets and four other teams were interested in Myles Turner. https://swarmandsting.com/2021/03/16/charlotte-hornets-interested-pacers-center-myles-turner/ I know nothing about this guy...what's he worth in a trade, and would he solve our problems?

good job. I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan, but I didn't hear the gravel in his gut part. All fits together now and makes me like Eric even more.
-
oh my goodness. terrible news
-
there is something about teams that keep winning games they shouldn't.....still pissed at that defensive effort, but as noted above, a win is a win.
-
we played like crap tonight and with less than a minute Terry gives us a 3 point lead. Got to hold on.
-
they are scoring in the paint at will and we just can't get over the hump so far. Need this win before the road trip. Play Vernon. He can't do any worse than Cody tonight. Time to get him some burn. And we're going to have address the post...soon.

Cody is having a BAD first quarter. They are scoring at will in the paint.
-
enjoy the early start tonight. our upcoming west coast road trip means more late games.

Panthers expected to sign OT Cam Erving
Captain Morgan replied to DJ feed me moore's topic in Carolina Panthers
meanwhile, Greg Little is like -
Joe Person @josephperson ยท 4m Panthers have signed Cowboys swing OT Cam Erving to a two-year, $10M deal, with $8M guaranteed, per league source. He's under 30 and has positional flexibility. Depending on what else Panthers do, would think Erving will compete for starting LT spot. But also can play G.

these restructures may be an indication that players realize what the free agent market looks like this year, and are willing to take less to stay with their team. Hope Curtis feels that way and signs a team friendly deal. Next year we have a lot of space, but DJ's new deal is looming as well.
