  1. If you don't know when not to tell the truth and when to lie, and that they aren't the same thing, you haven't lived long enough to be trying to criticize me on such matters.
  2. Your words would have some substance behind them...if Darnold wasn't one of the worst QBs with a clean pocket.
  3. You are the one using the words "poo or act drab about a player." I never ever even suggested that Tepper should do that. What I did say is that he didn't have to lie through his teeth about Darnold being a "very good" QB, and I fully stand by that. That was unnecessary bullshit, and anyone with half a brain can see right through it. Throughout recent history, we've seen execs be coy about a QB's status. Saying that someone is "very good" when they're clearly not is stupid strategy (if strategy at all).
  4. Nobody cares if it's right away or not. Sam might start the season as QB1--might--but he won't end the season as QB1. We're going to acquire a QB whether during the draft or afterwards, but we're going to do it. You can believe all that Darnold absurdity if you want.
  5. QBs have been in "trash situations" since time immemorial. True franchise QBs will flash even in bad situations, and they will flash consistently.
  6. I am not following that logic. McAdoo has said that very thing, plus Fitterer has informed everyone that he has told Darnold that we're adding to the room. Like Jon Snow has said, everyone knows our QB situation is sh¡t and that Darnold was pretty much sh¡t last season. This is not a secret. The only thing that people don't know is how we're actually attacking tomorrow night, and rightfully so. You're trying to manufacture intrigue in the wrong place, and ascribe strategy to something where in reality there is none.
  7. I told you: "He's our QB right now", or something akin to that. He needs to take Fitterer's lead.
  8. You're right. So was Zod when he said Tepper went too far. It's the ugly reality of the stats that really got me. Juxtaposed against Tepper's platitude, and something akin to a sh¡t show starts to come into focus. Perhaps tomorrow night will give us true clarity.
  9. Not upset, just surprised by a nonsensical comment. That he's our QB right now, like Fitterer or McAdoo has said. He knows how to refuse to talk about other things--be noncommittal on other things. What he shouldn't say is that Darnold is "very good". That's absurd based upon Darnold's work.
  10. I know we all think Tepper is either lying or is simply delusional when he said that Sam Darnold is a "very good" QB. I was listening to the local sports station in the Triangle when host Joe Giglio gave everyone a dose of reality about Darnold in the form of stats. And, yeah, I know that people say stats lie, but it's just hard to spin these regardless of whatever excuses that anyone wants to use to delude themselves into believing that Darnold is anything more than what he has been. In 50 games, Sammy has 54 TDs, 52 interceptions and 29 fumbles. That's horrible! There's no way that I believe that anyone can come to the conclusion that Darnold is anything but a bad QB from that. Even with the excuses, perhaps you can conclude that his ceiling is average, but based upon his career, the ceiling for him is not very good [see what I did there?]! Darnold has done nothing to raise the level of play for any team that he's played on (and, when I say "team", I'm thinking annually because each team is different). I simply don't believe that Tepper believes what he's saying in reference to Darnold; if he does, then we're all just wasting time here. He didn't want Cam, then he didn't want Teddy Bridgewater. He tried to get Matthew Stafford and then Deshaun Watson. Now, we're supposed to believe that he believes that Darnold is a "very good quarterback"? 50 games, 54 TDs, 52 INTs and 29 fumbles!
  11. He may have said it, but it was almost like Rhule was an afterthought, and that's the general feeling that I got in that respect throughout Tepper's entire presser, though I kinda believe that he still may support him. I it's correct that they have made a concerted effort to keep Rhule away from the cameras as much as possible this offseason.
  12. Tepper seems to support Rhule more than has been reported. I can actually appreciate his remarks regarding patience and building a foundation. The thing is, I was kind of believing what he was saying until he said Darnold is a very good QB. That's where he kinda lost me and I began to question whether he's just optimistic to a fault, spouting PR bullet points, or just being disingenuous.
  13. People seem to be giving up on TMJ, but we've hardly seen him. Just remember that the kid is talented, and that's all I'm going to say.
  14. Nah, man. Horn was a known quantity throughout the entire draft process, and he was linked to the Panthers pretty much throughout the process as well. All of us were pretty much hoping for Sewell, then it was a matter of Horn or Surtain, Slater, or possibly a QB if one fell. Horn's name became more prominently linked to us the closer that the draft approached.
  15. I think that the goal is to trade down, and always has been, and still get your man. What you have to try and determine is how far you can go before someone else pushes their chips in.
  16. I think that people buy into media-driven narratives too much. Players surprise and players bust from every draft class (and that includes QBs). Scouts are wrong and right every year, and so is everyone else. I don't think that you'll necessarily come to the correct answers if all you do is listen and parrot what scouts are saying, much less talking-heads. In our case, people must remember that OTs bust too.
  17. I am not going to hate on him for being frugal. It shows good judgment.
  18. I don't believe we'll make a "panic" move. I also don't believe we'll be trotting Darnold out as the intentional starter again. There's too much on the line. I think that whatever is done will be well-thought-out, and I believe different expectations--benchmarks--will be considered by Tepper as a result.
  19. I think there's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on. I'm thinking that the one NFC coach discussing Willis sounds kinda familiar... From the sound of these quotes, it seems to me that the top four are the only four to five that even have a chance of becoming regular NFL starters. Some Huddlers want to take a swing. If I'm taking one, it will be with the most enigmatic guy whose tough as sh¡t, has the arm talent and the arm strength to make legit NFL throws, has shown an unquestioned trajectory of growth, has tremendous upside, and is a proven leader. I'm taking the "dude"...that dude.
  20. I could see If an O-lineman was fuging up, and Rhule says, "let's start [so and so]", but the OL coach should have the first say-so in my opinion. It's not like an OL coach is going to intentionally start a worse guy. Pertaining to the O-line, Campen has to know better than Rhule.
  21. Exactly what I was thinking yesterday. I think he probably prefers the latter.
  22. Baker hasn't really been consistently good, which is the problem. I'll give him 1 decent year of four. I'm not giving anything substantial for 25% "goodness."
