  1. I wasn't talking about the players as much as I was talking about the ownership and the execs. The front office has been excellent for decades basically, and that's why they've been winners and have such a loyal fan base for decades. I'm not going to go into a littany of things that the Panthers players have done wrong or have been alleged to do wrong. Hell, even some cheerleaders had their mugshots in the news one time. I'm not going to get into the specifics of the dirt--including racism--that the Panthers' past ownership and allegations against its executives in the FO. And it's more serious than a player having a little fun. Suffice it to say, that there has been some pretty immoral stuff going down on Mint St. from the top on down. I've been a Panthers fan through it all, have you? And if so, why? So, as far as I'm concerned, you're either a hypocrite, being emo and/or simply immature just because I had the audacity to give arguably the best organization in the NFL a little praise for hiring a good black coach who is in a pretty tough spot for rightfully bringing up issues that shouldn't be in the league, much less the world in 2022. Maybe you should jump ship and go watch reruns of Mr. Rogers if all the dirtiness of the NFL, including from its ownership and players is too much to handle.
  2. The Steelers are a class organization.
  3. Strong's arm may be just as strong as any arm in the class. If Willis has a stronger arm, it's only by a very few yards. Not trying to be funny, but: strong arm ≠ best arm (pun not intended...at least in the beginning ). I've seen Corral pass for 60-65 yards on one throw. So honestly people are kinda splitting hairs with these guys. There's plenty of arm to choose from depending on who you pick.
  4. I agree, but people (including scouts) still cherry pick things within the stats and the game tape, and honestly there are some valid complaints and concerns regarding all QB draft prospects notwithstanding yardage and TDs. Even more, you can't afford to look at things--including stats--in a vacuum. Context matters! The eye test, considering offensive philosophies and schemes ran, the ability to discern translatable traits, taking into account the level of competition, factoring in size, durability and injury history, etc. are all things that you must be able to draw conclusions from in order to get clarity. That's real too, ripp.
  5. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/carson-strong/32005354-5260-6190-8574-8df4e803866b Medical history is a significant red flag. Lacking in his pre- and post-snap response to pressure. Surgeries on right knee have robbed him of mobility. Unwillingness to get the ball out quickly leads to sacks. Needs to prove he can become a full-field reader. Will linger on primary receivers a little too long. Allows high safeties to get a head-start over the top. Chance-taking could backfire on him as a pro. Remains to be seen if he has patience to take what defenses give him.
  6. Let's get the story right now. There's a lot of bs floating around. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2720210-5-star-qb-prospect-matt-corral-commits-to-florida-over-alabama-georgia
  7. Are you serious? He didn't even really do anything. As a matter of fact, his fellow players respected him more for it. As for all the stuff @CPantherKingwas talking about Georgia and Florida not wanting him, that's not exactly true. Corral wanted to have an honest chance to start. He didn't necessarily like how Georgia did Fields, and he actually decommited to Florida who was lying to him, and he was also recruited by Bama. He likely made the best choice.
  8. True, but it's not Strong's strong suit. It is Matt Corral's.
  9. I remember people talking crap about Dick Vermeil also. Yeah, he won one Super Bowl, but he's now a Hofer. I know that I wouldn't stake my life on Harbaugh not getting to the Super Bowl if he's given another opportunity.
  10. Sucks for us! Good for Morgan. If I had to bet, Omar Khan will get that job.
  11. College has different dynamics than the pros. It's much more difficult to compete against the big dogs because of their history, entrenchment, support by boosters and fans, etc. There are no legit systems in place (and will never be, really) to promote fairness from a personnel perspective. That's why there are such gaps between programs. Michigans and Stanfords of the world aren't the Georgias, Bamas or Ohio States. That being said, there is a ceiling of success for most programs. Michigan's success is not going to be Ohio State's success, because success is relative. That's not to say that a coach can't come out of nowhere and go to the mountaintop, but that's not the norm, and will that success be sustained over a long period of time? A few times it will, but most of the time it won't. Even more, sometimes coaches--including the young whippersnappers who are making a name for themselves in the college ranks--are just better suited for the NFL (and indeed their goal is the NFL). The NFL is designed for parity. If you have a good eye for talent in the draft and free agency, quality coaching, and a knack for roster building, vision and the ability to sell the vision to elicit discipline and excellence, you will succeed. Harbaugh seems to have those traits.
  12. Well, Corral is about as accurate as they come. Just saying. He also gets the ball out quickly.
  13. He looks to be a great clean pocket passer, and he damned well better be with one good knee. LOL. I appreciate you, Ricky, but remember, you asked us to prove how wrong you are.
  14. Strong has issues just like everyone else. And, his issues certainly won't overcome a bad line--maybe even not an average line. From PFN: Young quarterbacks always have flaws, and Strong is no different. He’s farther along than his age would suggest, but he’s also not a finished product. Most notably, pressure can create trouble for Strong. The Nevada QB can plant his feet prematurely at times and make himself vulnerable. He also tries to force the ball under pressure occasionally, leading to volatility and inaccuracy. He doesn’t always detect pressure on the backside, and creating for himself isn’t a natural strength. Furthermore, Strong sometimes fades away as he throws, limiting downfield distance. He can be easily forced backward by blitzing players, and he tends to fade back on rollouts at times, limiting his leverage as a thrower. Strong isn’t afraid to take risks even in high-pressure situations, but he can sometimes lead the ball into dangerous areas. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/carson-strong-nevada-qb-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/
  15. Let's not just skip over his knee like it's a footnote. https://steelersdepot.com/2022/02/the-doctor-is-in-what-to-make-of-carson-strongs-knee-issue/
  16. Dude, everything I've pretty much read says that he is an AVERAGE athlete. In today's NFL, that's not going to cut it. He's virtually a statue. I would like someone who, when the script breaks down, can ad lib and make things happen off schedule. His knee is a HUGE question mark that I don't want to have to deal with on any given Sunday. It could start swelling again, and then what? No thanks! I like how you are trying to intimate that Corral will only be successful in an RPO-based offense. Like any QB coming out of college, Corral will need to grow and develop. He can do what Strong can and so much more. Plus, he's more accurate.
  17. I don't care about Minny, Michigan or anything else because I saw what Harbaugh did with the 49ers as an actual NFL head coach. Getting to the Super Bowl and coming damn close to winning did not happen by mistake. I am not taking that for granted. Is he quirky with a big ego? Probably. Does he rub people the wrong way? Maybe. Was he a successful coach on the professional level. Yes! Would I take a chance that he's learned some lessons from his past stint in the league? Hell yeah!
  18. Pun was intended. I agree. No way we're tanking with Rhule at the helm. Too much is on the line for him. I'm thinking that Tepper's rolling the dice and legitimately hopes Rhule and company turn it around. It would be nice to know where the firing line is... I'm not worried about if and when Rhule has to be replaced. Tepper is learning from his mistakes, doesn't want to be a loser (much less a perennial one), and has deep pockets. I just don't like the thought of simply setting a season on fire...No one knows how many more that we'll be able to see.
  19. I guess Tepper decided to give it the ol' college try one last time...
  20. Yes, picking an inferior player simply because it's a position of need is only realistic on a message board. IRL that's never going to happen. I think most mature football fans know that to be true. Once the top tackles are gone, they're gone!
  21. Go Dawgs! Go Stafford! I like Kupp and OBJ as well. But, if the Bengals win l, I won't cry about it. I'm going to give you the obligatory, "If it ain't the Panthers, you can fug 'em both!"
  22. Well, honestly, Scot, did anyone strike you as special? If they did, I don't know it. I mean, you probably bought into the hype of Luck or Lawrence, but I don't remember you going out on any limbs for any QB.
