  1. I don’t even dislike Young/Stoud. They are just riskier than people think. Drafting one, and trading 3 1sts to draft one are two very different things.
  2. I’m seeing familiar faces wanting to give up the farm for these mystery QB’s that also wrote off after Corral for half a preseason game. I wonder how many were in the “Icky is a bust after week 1” thread. There’s a common theme here.
  3. College stats. Well I think I’m satisfied moving on.
  4. Makes far more logical sense giving up multiple 1sts for a proven like Lamar, than Young/Stroud who (and this should not be ignored) may have had their flaws hidden by blue chip surrounding talent.
  5. Right and the NFL told us what they thought of “insert dozens of QB busts here.” Ya’ll think this poo is simple but it’s not.
  6. People love saying “if you don’t see such and such, I don’t know what film you are watching.” It’s a cliche “dunk” attempt. It’s okay to have a different opinion, but only time will tell if Stroud/Young are worth a poo or not. Unfortunately you can’t get over the mystery of those two based on the superb talent that surrounded them. It makes it very hard to evaluate them as an individual. So things like “productions” is not as important as you think when evaluating these guys. Every OSU/Bama quarterback has “productions.” They are on the best teams every Saturday. I will say the Georgia game is encouraging for Stroud, but unfortunately neither of these guys had enough adversity in college for us to know they are worth the cost to trade up.
  7. Biased against Corral. That’s fine but at least be honest. How many games did he miss in college because of injury?
  8. People are way too thirsty being okay trading 2-3 1sts for one of these QB’s. You don’t have to like Corral, but compare full snap game tapes of him vs. Stroud/Young, and tell me there is 3 1st round difference in the tape. Take emotion out of it, and compare the physical ability, arm talent, mobility, decision making, etc. It’s tolerable trading up to 5-6 range, but trading with the Bears?…sheesh. We are in prime position to strengthen our team all over, and people want to give it all away for a maybe.
  9. Keep in mind: not everyone who isn’t excited about this quarterback class is a “wash, rinse, repeat” person. I’ve liked Howell and Corral for awhile, and they did good things at schools that weren’t powerhouses. The top 2 this class I’ve been afraid of (well documented) because they had far easier Saturdays. Doesn’t mean I end up being right. Odds are I’m wrong. But there are classes I like and classes I don’t. I don’t dislike the class every year.
  10. Calculating the value of the picks after CMC is added and they ripped off 10 straight wins to end the regular season. Classic huddle poo right there.
  11. See Matt Rhule and Ben McAdoo. Once again he isn’t just a runningback. If you just want to hand it off to a guy and throw the occasional screen, then there are plenty of Chubba Hubbards. I agree with that. CMC is on another level and it showed in SF.
  12. What? We got a 2nd,3rd,4th, and next years 5th for him. And that’s considering his injury prone label.
  13. Basically runningbacks with so so hands are a dime a dozen, yes. A Marshall Faulk type player will always be insanely valuable in the NFL.
  14. Every runningback thread contains people talking about CMC like he is just a runningback. He’s a defense breaking offensive weapon. He’s the best runner and has the best hands on the team as soon as he walks in the building. Slot corners have issues with him, let alone the linebackers he abuses every play. Watch some 49er tape if McAdoo’s usage of him is stuck in your head.
  15. I’m calling it now. If they get Carr, number 9 won’t be a QB. Not sure what I think about that, but I don’t think it’s realistic having so much draft capital sitting the bench behind him, doing nothing.
  16. People label any QB on their second team as a “retread” unless they are a hall of fame type guy. They treat them all the same lol.
  17. My first thought too. I’d rather draft and develop a rookie and Corral, and have a clear bridge QB. Carr is better than that though, and I’m trying to get in the head of Fitt/Reich if they brought him in. Just seems like a waste if we bring in Carr AND draft QB at 9, especially if Corral is already there, and maybe Reich likes Eason too. Carr is “win right away”, and there are better uses at 9 if that’s what the goal is.
  18. Honestly if we sign Carr, that changes #9 for me. Carr can play. This wouldn’t be Baker with McAdoo. It’s not a question mark. He would probably be the guy for 2-4 years. We already have a developmental QB on the roster. Should we have two developmental guys sitting for that long? If we went Carr, seems more logical to me to draft the best offensive weapon or an edge rusher at 9.
  19. The odds of our rookie and Corral having success seem to keep going up. We are going to fix this QB poo. Great time to be a Panthers fan folks.
  20. Meanwhile, the hated Sam Darnold was 4-2 as a starter this year because it’s a team sport. I’d love a Mahomes on the team, but there’s many ways to make a football omelet. Keep adding talent. Make the team better. And if a QB you love is there at 5-8, then you can trade up and not get bent over while doing so.
  21. That’s what I’m saying. Perhaps text is a bad way to talk. Football is too much of a team game for “quarterbacks win championships” to be anything but a simple and annoying thing to just say.
  22. I mean I think it’s obvious that having a great QB gives you an advantage. I was commenting more on the simplistic “quarterbacks win championships” phrase. Mahomes recently didn’t win a Super Bowl (55) when his line failed him, and his play was greatly affected. So literally the best QB in the NFL needed help, and since the team had too glaring a weakness on the line, they didn’t get it done. And they got the doors blown off. Obviously you want to seek a top 5 quarterback, but that’s like hitting the lottery no matter the round you draft them. I get what you are saying, but the phrase “quarterbacks win championships” is just so simple when reality is far more complicated than that. And that’s what makes this game so interesting to me. So many variables and complexity, masked in something so seemingly simple.
