  1. Oh, and this year has barely even started. He hasn't had a chance to do much yet. Everyone should know we weren't going to sign any week one FAs. Got to wait for the market to settle. That does not necessarily mean we aren't going to make a deal. Just means we have to wait for the players we CAN afford. But, I guess that is another excuse, not a reality.
  2. I know this probably doesn't mean a whole lot to some. But....Gman has only been on the job for two years. Last year he had zero money. But to some, that is an excuse not a reality. This year, he has a little money. But to some, he is waiting too damm long to spend it. Yeah, that Gman character better get his act together pretty quick. I mean, hellz, he has had two years already.
  3. OH snap. We need a speed guy with talent, and consistency. We already have Ginn Jr., and Corey. Two guys with the speed, and some talent. They are just lacking in that consistency department. Good for #3 types, although I hope Corey can develop into that #2 guy, and we can live with that. We need a capable #1/#2. Unless we draft and develop that guy. We may not get one. At least not this year. However, Gman knows what kind of guy he wants. He knows how much that guy is worth. If he finds one he thinks can make us better. Who knows? I just feel if we are going to take a chance on upgrading the WR spot this year, it is through the draft. tl/dr version. Listen you sarcastic twit. You have to see the irony of a guy claiming the team doesn't do it the right way. Then advocating for a player that doesn't fit the need we have to fill.
  4. If we are going to spend Crabtree money on a WR. I would just prefer he had more speed. If we are going to add talent, at least add speed to the mix. I like Crab, he does a lot of things well. Just wish he added speed to the roster. We would still need Ginn Jr. or Corey to stretch the D. You want speed in the slot, so that would be out. And he just isn't fast enough to play outside either. So in a way, Crab is more a luxury than a need. Most times it takes two years to fully recover from Achilles injuries. So if he is going to get back to full strength, this is the year for it. I just wish he had more speed. Unless he comes at close to vet minimum, he is just a pretty good possession receiver. And to me, not worth spending too much money on him.
  5. Actually, the bottom line is the fact we now have a football guy running the show. Something that has been missing for the last 10 years or so. And that guy has only been on the job for 2 years. You cannot compare us to those teams just yet. Well, YOU can, but it is an unjust assessment. Also, the Seahawks have only been good since they got Wilson, so they shouldn't be on your list anyway. So your assertion that we are "Doing it wrong" is premature. Give Gman a couple more years before you call him a failure. Hellz, we ain't seen what he can do when he has some money to play with yet. He took over a talent depleted team, with no money. I think calling him a failure after only 2 years is just unfair. Frustration of the past is clouding your judgment of the future.
  6. If you can stay away from paying too much guaranteed money, sure you can manipulate the cap. The more star players you have, the more guaranteed you probably have to pay. Drafting well puts you in the position to reload without having to guarantee money to your better players. When the "Next guy up" has talent. It gives you options. The cap is just that, a limit on what you payroll can reach. You can manipulate salaries, but you still have to stay under that limit. Harvin has huge potential. That is a given. But.....he hasn't shown much of that potential in the last 3 years. He ain't getting anywhere near 10mil, so we could offer him a decent deal. Just not sure we are the franchise that would be willing to take a chance on him getting back to form. If you trust him, go for it. That is just one huge IF.
  7. I just think it's so cute how the younger generations like their abbreviations. I mean, the extra 1 or 2 seconds it takes to actually spell out Patterson can be better put to helping mankind and such.
  8. I just happened to watch DGB today. He actually sounded like a semi-intelligent guy. It made me think that maybe he has a chance. Then I thought to myself. The kid is basically a Soph. He had 1 good year. Are we in a position we can take the chance that the kid cannot hit the field? Can we wait half the year or more? He sounded contrite, and even level headed. But...unfortunately, we are not yet at the point where we can wait on an early pick to grow. We need our early picks to shine. DGB may take some time to get there. Sure he may well get there. But, we need immediate help before we start stockpiling talent.
  9. OK, I know I'm late on this. However...I am usually late anyway. Which is why I am never going to be a mod. But... The same reason we are not taking a rehabilitating Tackle early, is the same reason we won't take DGB. We need players that can contribute immediately. We are not yet in the position to wait on a player to come around for a year or so. Side issues aside, it is just that simple. If we thought he could play, he may be in play for us. If we think he needs time, or has to learn, he is not of use to us. After the 4th round, anyone is game. But, in the first three rounds, we need players. DGB is not a starter. So he is not on our board until the later rounds. Maybe in a year or two we can take a player like him. Just not at this time. We are just not in the position to wait on a player yet. Sorry if I am the bearer of bad news. Or realistic news. Cuz the kid is awesome. Just too raw for our needs.
  10. Josh talked to Davis. Davis talked to Hardy. Davis then got Ryan, CJ, Greg, Gano, and Keek together. They all jumped in Davis' Escalade and drove up to JR's house to talk to him. They are/were all Captains. Having almost 1500 lbs of Captains at one time could have an effect on ol' Jerry.
  11. The wife lets me stare at other chicks boobs. She will occasionally point them out for me. If I am elected, I can teach the rest of you how these perks are won. Truthfully, I think being a mod would go to my head. Most of you wouldn't last the first week. Then you all would be whining to Zod. Then there would have to be some sort of tribunal. Which would more than likely wind up being all messy. So I guess for the betterment of all concerned, I should just pass.
  12. Yeah but, this two year stretch ended in playoff games. Yeah but, no player has ever said one thing, then done another. Yeah but, once I get to look at history, I am really good at finding fault with the decisions that were made.
  13. Sorry Scotty, you cannot argue against "Yeah but". Gman has drafted well. Yeah but, he didn't draft such and such. No cap space. Yeah but, he should have gotten better players. We made the Playoffs two years in a row. Yeah but, one was because we sucked less than everyone else. No matter what transpires, there will always be an opportunity for a "Yeah but".
  14. So you are saying if we want to win Championships, we have to stretch the rules like the Pats? I guess if you can live with yourself, go for it. Me? Cheating, or stretching the rules is for folks with questionable ethics. Also, many think that it should be Panthers 1 Pats 3. That they beat us because they cheated. So the team you want to emulate, beat the team you root for, because they stretched the rules. There are more teams without a Championship than teams with one. So we are not the only team searching for that magic formula to get us that elusive win. Maybe more teams should be willing to do "Whatever" is necessary to win. But then, when everyone is cheating, what will become of the NFL? I would also like to add. Now that we have an actual "Football" guy running the show. Just maybe we can get there. Without having to stoop to the Pats level. I want to win. But, I also like to look in the mirror and not be ashamed.
  15. I really, really love winning. But...there is something to be said for doing it the right way. To me, it comes down to; What are you willing to do, and still be able to look at yourself in the mirror? If you truly believe that JR does not care about winning, you are barking up the wrong tree. The hiring of Gman should lay that thought to rest. Just because he wants to do it the right way, does not mean he cares less.
  16. Teh Jimmeh always looked good when there was no pass rush. It was the pressure that got to him.
  17. Yupperz. That is why Harstock got most of the snaps last year. His blocking. He sure didn't catch many passes. So if BWill can get the blocking down, he may get plenty of opportunities to catch the ball. Then again, the more he does offensively. The less he may do on Special Teams. Or not. Rivera loves him some Special Teams. Hellz, I don't know. Either way, I am pulling for the guy.
  18. That is one thing you can take to the bank with this team. If you are going to see the field, you had better be able to block. Unless you are Olsen. Then you just have to get in the way. But he does make up for it in other ways. Mostly, being Cam's security blanket.
  19. I also want to say. Man we have some coaches on this team. And I can live with that.
  20. I see you have met the wife. lol If BWill can help, it just makes us better. You almost have to root for the kid. Stories like his are what make the game so compelling. Great to see him put in the work, and getting the help he needs to do it right. Man, I love the direction this team is headed.
  21. Ouch. I said I hoped you were right. I hate mornings. (Is this where I put that LOL thingy?)
  22. I was going to be snarky and ask if this was a gut feeling, or just, you know, female intuition? But....it's too damm early for that stuff. So Ima gonna say, I sure hope you're right.
  23. Look at Ricky in the background, he looks happy to me.
  24. Allen played what State calls the "Joker" position. Just like a lot of teams that use this position the player is a cross between a S, and a LB. Most think of it as a Safety in the box type player. So moving him to Safety would make a lot of sense. As a State fan, I don't care where they play him. Just good to see one of us on the team. The one with speed is a given. Folks go goo goo over speed. As for the other one? Your guess is as good as any. Most times I can't even understand what he is trying to say. Is it humor? Is it sarcasm? Is is some form of san script? Dude just puzzles me no end. And what is the obsession with dirt?
  25. I am definately dissappointed in Greg. But I am downright embarassed by a lot of the comments on here. Damm, some of you really do need to grow up.
