I think one problem we’re having is that whether Bryce can hit the deep ball or not, at this point, attempts need to be made to keep the defense honest . Even if he throws a pick. Defenses need to know we have the courage to try .

The only reason Brees had success was because the NFL played story mode and carried their ass to a SB along with bountygate. Bryce needs to be better than Brees. Drew was a stat padder that choked with the game on the line.

Wilks had Sam cooking. Power running game and using Darnolds arm talent to win 3rd down and get chunk plays was very effective. Last years roster with Wilks as HC is leading the division right now. We would have gone to the playoffs last year if Horn didn’t break his wrist .

Could have resigned Wilks, resigned Cam, drafted AR and kept our draft capital and likely have a winning season so far.

I’m know you and I see eye to eye on most topics but I just can’t put today on him.

As a hater I’m gonna defend Bryce today. The line has been getting stomped all day. First pick was a guess read he made because he was rushed. Second pick was the right read but a bad throw. He hasn’t done anything egregiously Clausen level today. This team desperately needed Shenault and Damiere Byrd to survive the season. There’s no screen threat or viable deep threat to scare anyone.

I think it’s possible that Chark isn’t running a 4.3 anymore. Mingo and TMJ are still discovering themselves in their route running. Im not a QB excuse guy but as you say the Texans arent a talent juggernaut. I think it’s speaks to how weak we are at the perimeter. Bryce doesn’t have a rocket arm but the faith isn’t there to take the chance and that was evident last week when Chark played volleyball with that 40+yd pass.

I’m leaning towards it being more team talent. Why did we look so much better last week? I mean we won by the skin of our ass and force feeding AT while Bryce is escaping the pocket. We barely beat a 500 team. Until today Bryce was improving each week. I think we really can’t evaluate him until we have some consistent speed at WR and a line that doesn’t get destroyed every play. I say this as someone who wanted Stroud. But you can tell the talent is there in Bryce when the teams are more evenly matched.

Why aren’t we running more behind the center like last week ?

I’ve put plenty of blame on his short comings this year but the offensive line, in this game especially is just making it impossible to have a functioning offense.
