A lookback at Morgan's first draft
SmokinwithWilly replied to R0CKnR0LLA's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don't disagree but if we were determined to go with a RB, Corum was close in pre draft ranking to Brooks. -
How many games before they pull the plug for good
SmokinwithWilly replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I guarantee it makes a difference. Give up 2 scores and its basically over until garbage time. The offense can barely drive the length of the field in 3 quarters. The defense has been gutted to build around a QB that is possibly the biggest bust in NFL history. For what we've put into the offense the past 3 years, we should be dropping 30 bombs with regularity. The only 30s we get are FGs. -

A lookback at Morgan's first draft
SmokinwithWilly replied to R0CKnR0LLA's topic in Carolina Panthers
Without any real effort those 1st 3 picks could have been Ladd McConkey - WR Zach Frazier - C Blake Corum - RB 2 difference makers and a highly ranked RB if we had still wanted to go that direction. It was so simple and it was hard not to screw up, yet.... -
I dont think Shadeur would have dropped as far if he had handled the draft process better. Having his own draft showroom setup and then all the BS involving his dad turned a lot of teams off. I thought he was worth it in the 4th or 5th because we had nothing to lose and it was low risk, high reward. At this point I'm just so tired of the Huddle being right more often than the experts.

Why take a 2nd round QB when you can trade up for an injured running back thats a bigger bust than Eric Shelton.
-
Id prefer to fire both but DC has had to coach with one hand tied behind his back. He relies on. A QB that can make chunk throws and we'll, that ain't BY. Morgan on the other hand has taken a master class from Scott Fittershits University of Drafting and Management and this is the result. He needs to go.

Derrick Brown is the Leader of this Team
SmokinwithWilly replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
In order to compensate for BY outside of garbage time, our defense needs to be one of the best in NFL history to even stand a chance at winning a game. That's too much to ask of a group of guys week in and week out. -
If that were true, we would have actually brought in some competition for BY. Theres 52 other guys on this team that deserve a shot at winning. You want to do guys a solid. Compete. That way when they want to do what AT did it looks like a solid, not just a guy that wants to get off the Titanic before it sinks.

Tepper is still pulling the strings
SmokinwithWilly replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
AR is extremely raw but he's a better fit for a DC type offense, and he's rumored to be on the outs in Indy. I'd trade BY for AR and see what happens. We need a new QB at the end of the season anyway. Why not. -

I don't think our defense sucks as bad as everyone thinks it does. That doesn't mean they're good by any stretch, but they literally have no chance to win. None. Our offense is absolute dog poo led by a PS QB. You can play as hard as you want, but these guys have got to be demoralized as hell knowing if they give up a touchdown, in all likelihood the game is over. You're right, Cam would change this locker room. Cam's energy was infectious and he would never put up with the poo we're seeing now. It makes a difference when you believe you have a fighting chance to win. Get Bryce off the field. Dalton, Hooker, Plummer, hell straight up trade for AR at this point. Get him off this damn team. -
Tepper is still pulling the strings
SmokinwithWilly replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't have to be there for the day to day. It's is he present when its big deal day like trading up to 1, rejecting a Rams ransom for Burns, giving total control to guys with little to no experience in key positions? Dave's few big decisions are more destructive than any day to day meddling could hope to be. -
Relax. We are off to a slow start.
SmokinwithWilly replied to jasonluckydog's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wish we could replace Morgan. I genuinely don't know who we're going to get. This team has a terrible owner that thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and while that may be true as a fund manager, as an NFL executive he's in way over his head. But anyone who is seriously looking at this job will see his fingerprints all over the way this team has been run since he bought it and nobody wants to work for a micromanager. -
Xavier Legette fuging sucks

I've always wondered how I'd do as an NFL GM. Based on the Carolina Panthers bar, I could retire a millionaire never having accomplished a damn thing. -
Hot Takes Immediately After the Game
SmokinwithWilly replied to Admiral Ackbar's topic in Carolina Panthers
This team will never be competitive with David Tepper as the owner. The building is toxic and no one with any real ability to turn it around wants to come here. Morgan and Canales are the result of only one person applying for the job. -
Chargers vs. Chiefs - Tonight @ 8PM!
SmokinwithWilly replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was torn about the Harbaugh hire. On one hand, I didn't want him leaving Michigan because fug the Buckeyes. On the other hand, he would have instantly made the Panthers 3x better than they had ever been under Tepper. Bittersweet for sure, but still, fug the Buckeyes. -

Looks like he knew Evero's defense sucked worse than we did.

Parsons to Carolina made no sense if we were going to try and give him what he wanted. If it was 2 1sts, DB, and that contract, there was no feasible was to build around him in the next 4 years, especially with Bryce still lacking a full season of productivity. GB has their QB. We aren't certain yet, though the end of last season was reason for optimism. Parsons is an elite talent, but unfortunately we're not in the position to make that type of move for him. That's a put you over the top SB window run type move.

Hendon Hooker signed to practice squad
SmokinwithWilly replied to Super Grateful's topic in Carolina Panthers
My only concern is if we're not actively trying to get better which we don't seemed overly concerned with doing. That's more of an organizational thing than a player thing. Great teams and coaches are always looking to find the smallest gains. We're content to settle. That bothers me. -
Amazed packers didn't find Parsons injury
SmokinwithWilly replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Im sure he had to pass a physical as part of the deal. The Packers had to have known to pay a price that high. If they didn't, there's no lemon law in the NFL. -
The Panthers make the Hornets look like geniuses sometimes.
