  1. Yes. If they have assurance they can resign Rico Chuba on the season has played in 6 games and has 282 yards that's 47 yards a game and that was the easy part of the schedule if you extrapolate that for the remaining 9 games that's 705 yards on the season. He's a good rotational back but if you can get some compensation via a trade then go for it. Canales was out here handing out participation trophy in the National Football League and some fans were echoing it, "he wanted to give Chuba a chance to win his starting job back." The way it works usually when a starter gets injured amd comes back he's giving the starting role back because it's assumed he's better than the backup filling in. There's no way based on Chuba's play before the injury and afterwards (Jets game) Canales or anyone else thought Chuba gave us the best chance to win against Buffalo whereas he got the most snaps and the most carries in the game.
  2. Chuba's not bad hes an average back a dime a dozen anybody calling him more than that is vastly over inflating his play
  3. And he won't get close to 1200 yards this season. Rico amassed half of that with just two full games starting. We've seen the best of Chuba he's a good back average starter paired with a weak passng attack, Superbowl here we come!
  4. With Byrce and his 180 yards passing a game average and Chuba's 50 yards a game we not winning next season either so that point is moot.
  5. Malpractice would be the Panthers going into next season with an inconsistent passing game and Chuba as the lead back we've seen what that offense looks like the past few seasons. If Byrce is going to succeed we're going to need to be a able run the ball. Again my point if Rico balls out as in a top 5 rusher the remaining of the season Panthers would be crazy not to try and sign him. He's a local product who grew up in Asheville not too far from Charlotte I'm sure his preference would be playing for the home team.
  6. I'm not arguing with you. You asked a question if teams decided to take away the run game and force Bryce to beat them what was Rico at the point. I was just noting going back to last season he's been one of the most efficient rushers in the league.
  7. Derek Henry is 31 and still lighting it up. It's not as if he's had a ton of wear and tear, last season was his first time getting significant snaps. A 2 or 3 year deal shouldnt break the bank, what do you think other teams will be signing him for?
  8. Trade the lesser back not the one at the top of the league in statss. Yes let's gamble if the unproven Brooks who had major ACL tear in college had another one in just his 3rd game in the NFL. That's the Panthers I've come to know over the last seasons.
  9. If this team lets Rico walk without trying to sign him if he continues to ball out and rolls with Chuba 2 and 3 yards amd a cloud of dust next season it would be on brand for them.
  10. if you look at the numbers going back to last year when he started for Dallas the last part of the season Rico has been one of the most efficient rushers in the league. I dont believe this claim by the way, Canales just hinted in the presser this week they're going to be giving Dowdle a bigger role in the offense.
  11. From the presser it appears they didnt know Dalton was injured until after the game. He should have took himself out the gsme because he didnt do us any favors by staying in there. You can't just assume Hooker is terrible because this coaching staff didnt turn to him, without injury to Chuba, Rico wouldn't have gotten on the field outside spot duty.
  12. Eh sounded reasonable to me. Emotions were high in a blowout. Like that fight from Robinson though our rather see team pissed off after getting blown out than laughing and joking afterwards.
  13. Dowdle would probably be leading rusher or close to it had he been the lead back all season most of those guys in front have more volume of carries. Makes you wonder how his talent didn't flash in practice seeing how little use he got in the early part of the season. It's not like it came out of nowhere he rushed for a 1000 yards last season even though just like here he started as backup and didn't get significant carries until the 2nd half of the season, Cowboys were playing an ineffective Zeke in front of him. Not sure why Jerry didnt try to resign him, but they paid for that in the game against us. Canales seemed determined to repeat the same mistake as Dallas, hopefully he's gotten out of his own way. This team has lacked identity the past few seasons, especially have been missing that fire starter on offense like he had with Cam, Jonathan Stewart, Steve Smith's of the world. We had that briefly for 2 games hopefully the 2nd half of the season we can get back to that brand of football where teams know what we're doing but can't stop it.
  14. He certainly didn't do Chuba any favors and made the situation more awkward and dramatic than it had to be. Coming off back to back games averaging close to 200 yards rushing you just dont put a hault to that, you continue to ride the hot hand and the chemistry Rico and the Oline had going in the run game. Chuba was coming off injury perfect excuse to ease him back into the game plan with spot duty because unless he was going to come in gashing people the way Rico had been doing (which he wasn't doing before his injury) you're setting him up to face what he's facing now. because Rico yards per carry hasn't dropped the only thing has dropped is his production due to coaches decision. Of course fans are going have the pitchfork outs we finally have an offense worth watching for two weeks after who knows how many seasons and then Canales comes back with the same ole, same ole of 3 and outs with a top 5 running back on the bench. If Chuba started showing some juice in relief/spot duty of Rico then you could transition to a dual headed attack but just declaring it and sticking to it with no results is ridiculous.
  15. Packers are probably the best overall team we will have faced so far this season. Going to be tough sledding in Green Bay. Like last week the best chance we have is to establish a running game shortened the game and keep Green Bay offense on the sideline. Defense has to show up, they got embarrassed by the Bills if they have another poor performance it will be 2nd blowout in a week.
  16. Rico dapped Chuba up when he came off the field after the touchdown there's no issue between them. But I'm sure he has to be frustrated, he's set the league on fire for 2 weeks when he was the main option only to be relegated to 2nd fiddle while still out producing the "starter".
  17. These guys are crazy. We trot Chuba out there on the first drive two straight handoffs he averages 2 yards a carry on that drive Andy gets sacked on 3rd down and punt. 2nd drive with Rico in we throw a pass first play for first down to TMac, next play we run Rico for 5 yard gain, next play incomplete pass, next play another 5 yard gain for Rico, followed by another incomplete pass, and then Rico breaks a 24 yard gain to get us into the red zone, before Dalton fumbles. Half of Rico carries came in his first drive of the game. Yes we were in the hole, mainly due to coaching sucks.
  18. If Buffalo's lead back was averaging 2.8 yards a carry like ours they probably still beat us by a score of 13-9 or something, but we don't get blown out. Allen didn't do much in that game, he just didn't lose it for them, there was no trickery they lined up in their heavy personnel and ran right through the defense.
  19. Reporter: "Dave you said you said you a had a tough time getting the run game going, but Rico averaged almost 7 yards a carry, how do you keep that balance while still trying to get your best players involved?" Canales: "Yes that's something to look at too, we gotta look at schemes and we gotta look at personnel that gives us our best chance to win." We have to look at "schemes" as to why one back averaging 2 yards a carry gets more snaps and carries against the 31st rushing defense than the one averaging almost 6 yards a carry for the season and one of the top backs in the NFL in rushing yards. I thought Matt Rhule was disingenuous, but this guy, is giving him a run for bos money.
  20. Yep Buffalo was giving up 5.8 yards a carry this season. They gave up 6.8 yards a carry to Dowdle in this game but instead of giving it to him 20 plus times we only ran him 8 and decided to give it to Chuba for 12 carries and 2.8 yards a pop. Thus we faced alot of 3 and long and Andy being a statue he is could not get out of the way of the pressure.
  21. Yes as much I believe this is a move retarded franchises make, it may be best for all involved. Dowdle is clearly the best back on the team and they are clearly invested in Chuba and trying to pretend we have some sort of two-headed monster rushing attack (we don't). Get something out of the deal instead of letting him walk. And then I can know you're not actually trying to compete this season and find other things to do on my Sundays.
  22. No competent teams would play their best players. Buffalo sure could of helped us out by rotating drives with Cook today. Instead they just kept feeding him until the Panthers will broke. That's what competent teams do.
  23. 2.8 yards a carry is not terrible?
  24. Nor the future the way this organization is ran.
  25. The best weapon Young needs is a running game. Allen didnt even have to do much today because of Cook, should have been our gameplan but our star back got 8 carries.
