He doesn't. And he doesn't.

No one in here for that huge win against a top team in the West on the road with the refs going against us? LaMelo started slow but was great down the stretch with a couple clutch baskets. Somehow we're ahead of the Celtics and their 2 all stars in the standings (lol) and only a half game out of the 4th seed... We've got a ways to go but this season has been a huge success so far. In Mitch I trust.

Panthers "a top candidate" for HBO's Hard Knocks
t96 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Whether it makes sense or not, it's just speculation. Your thread title indicates that there is some solid info out there that we are actually a top candidate for Hard Knocks. In reality, we are no more of a top candidate than the other 4 teams who can be forced to do it, and likely less of a candidate than teams like the Jaguars who may actively want to do it. I know it's slow right now and the content of the article was worth posting and it's a discussion worth having, but the title is extremely misleading. There's more info out there to support us being a top candidate for Watson than there is to support us being a top candidate for Hard Knocks. -

Ok so NFL update made a click bait headline which you perpetuated here. -
Panthers "a top candidate" for HBO's Hard Knocks

Also this is very click-baity. There is no report that we're actually a top candidate for Hard Knocks. The article is literally only going through the 5 teams that can be forced to do it, which we are 1 of. There are other teams, like the Jags as mentioned at the end of the article, that could still want to do it. The article is just the author's opinions. Nothing suggests we're actually likely for it or a top candidate other than the fact that we're 1 of 5 teams that can be forced to do it. Which we've known all along... -

Teams can be forced to do it by the NFL if they have missed the playoffs the previous 2 years and have a returning head coach. We can be forced to do it even if Tepper is adamantly against it. It's right there in the article you posted: And since Hard Knocks is unstoppable and time is a flat circle, we've reached that period of the football calendar when I share with you which teams are Hard Knocks eligible in 2021. Before we get to it, a quick reminder of how the sausage gets made here. Based on the agreed-upon terms between the clubs and league that went into effect in 2014, teams can avoid mandatory inclusion on Hard Knocks if they fall under any of three exemptions: They have a first-year head coach. They have a playoff berth in the past two seasons. They have appeared on Hard Knocks in the past 10 years. When you plug those three conditions into the Official Hard Knocks Team Generator, it spits out five possibilities for 2021. -
Panthers "a top candidate" for HBO's Hard Knocks

I know it'd be fun for fans but I don't think it does the team any good. Would prefer it's not us, but whatever if it is. -
The upside is there, but I've seen enough from him that I don't think he'll ever come near reaching his potential. Being beat out by Taysom Hill as Brees' backup last year convinced me. I'd pass, but if he were cheap enough I wouldn't hate it. Just wouldn't have any confidence that it'd work out here.

Could we have called them about Carr though? And they shut that down more or less because it seems they want to keep him?

Report: Deshaun Watson would OK trade to Carolina Panthers

If only Eddie DeBartolo bought the team... -
Well, I would definitely be disappointed but I do trust Rhule and company. I think it's important to get a QB this offseason because it's by far our best opportunity with a high draft pick along with a loaded QB class at the top (and the rare case of an elite franchise QB potentially being available via trade). Even if we roll with Teddy I could see us being a fringe playoff team as soon as next year and we may not have a top 10 pick any time soon, and future QB classes will not be this stacked. If we can't get Watson I think we need to do whatever it takes to get one of the top 4 QBs in this draft. If other teams go crazy and the QBs all go in the top 4 and the price is insane to trade up, so be it. But I highly highly doubt that'll be the case.
-
So? That hardly means he would've moved on from Cam if he had played at a high level without missing time in 2018 and 2019. His recent "obsession" with getting a true franchise QB further supports the idea that if Cam was still a top QB and healthy, Tepper would be 100% behind keeping him and paying him big money.
-
Like I said play style was a contributing factor, but many of the blows to the shoulder that Cam took after the initial injury were when he was in the pocket, and the initial injury was on a fluky play where he ran down a CB after a pick. Wilson is good at avoiding hits when he scrambles, yes, but he's also just been incredibly lucky to avoid injuries this long. Cam wasn't.
-
No we're just bored of hearing it again and again and again when nobody can change what happened. It's tiring.
-
Ehh Rivera didn't give him bad injury luck. Wilson has had terrible OLs for most of his career and he's never missed a game. A lot of that is just random bad luck, with play style also a slight factor.
-
I think that's crap. If Cam was still playing at a high level and healthy why would Tepper want to move on from him? I think 2018 frustrated the hell out of Tepper, starting with that Pittsburgh game that I'm sure was very personal for him and then when Cam couldn't be counted on in early 2019 his future here was sealed.
-
I've had my fair share of criticisms of Cam even before the last couple injury riddled years, but I still don't see how anyone can objectively hold that against him. Watching it, it was pretty clear that he was expecting it to bounce a certain way and just misjudged it. The claims that it was a "business decision" or he didn't care are absurd.

Latest mock from the Athletic. Fields to CAr. Jones to NO
t96 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Trade up for Justin Fields obv. -
By physical limitations, it is clearly not referring to mobility/athleticism, but arm strength. Teddy's actually pretty athletic, he just has a noodle arm.
-
Every single Pats OL that they develop internally and leaves disappoints with their new team. Even aside from salary I'd stay far away.
-
How brutal would it be if BB turns him into a 30 TD / 6 INT guy, even with their crap weapons... I'm willing to take that risk though, just get him outta here
-
They tagged him last year and it was already insanely high for a guard since the OL salary tag goes off of the top 5 highest paid LTs essentially. If they tagged him again it would be a significant increase on last year's tag, forget the exact number, but definitely a stupidly high amount that won't happen.

https://www.nbcsports.com/edge/football/nfl/player/9900/bill-belichick Please, Belichick, make it happen. We'll give you him for a 5th rounder, that's peanuts for a starting QB!
-
In hindsight it was an incredible move by the Hornets and a terrible move by the Celtics. But there were a bunch of factors and I don't think anyone knew at the time that Kemba's knee was a ticking time bomb or could've foreseen Rozier becoming an elite spot up shooter like he's become here. I completely understand people being upset at the time, because as others have said the Hornets had made so many bad moves up to that point, why would anyone expect the Rozier acquisition to be any different? I think by now Kupchak has proved himself trustworthy and I won't get upset with any moves he makes until they're proven to be bad, because he's been on absolute fire the last 2 years.

Come on dude, SF is not giving up 2 first rounders and Jimmy G for Teddy and McCaffrey.
