    It’s hilarious how fuged that Darnold trade is. We literally traded a serviceable 2022 rookie QB for a busted 4 year QB from the Jets, while trying to trade down for a 2022 second round pick not half as good as the one we traded away. You couldn’t make this poo up.

    Agreed. Unless the kid shows a huge upside like Cam did, there is no reason you can’t swing again if you are picking top 5/6 again. You definitely have to consider swinging again if you’re picking #1 unless you are just that convinced with your current guy.

    Why would he? He is not gonna roll over and let himself get fired. He knows very well a rookie will not save his job in todays NFL when they can just Josh Rosen his rookie QB after they give him the pink slip.

    OT always feels like the safe pick since if one flames out, there is a good chance you kick them inside or at the very least become part of a decent rotation.

    I would feel confident in getting a good deal if this wasn’t the same crew that traded our 2nd and 3rd round picks for a busted QB and CB from the Jets and Jags….

    Joe Burrow the two year starter from two different programs is not comparable to Pickett a four year starter in his 5th year of college in the same program.

    If there is an early run on OL and the edge rushers drop I could see it. Our DLine is probably just as bad and maybe worse than the OLine.

    All the clever planning means nothing with this factor weighing us down. Unless it’s a deal that is just too good to refuse no way we trade down. Rhule may have been neutered but he is still the head coach, and one playing for his future.

    I have this gut feeling all the top OL will get picked ahead of us, especially since there are no QBs worth top 10 picks and one of the top DL will fall to us. It won’t be a tragedy since our DL needs just as much help as the OL but I still would prefer one of these OTs.

    As fans most of us want something to hope for. Even if rolling with Sam is the smart move it doesn’t make it any easier to swallow….

    It probably will not be a rookie QB unless we draft another Cam who by the way went 6-10 his rookie year. Granted we have a better team but I find it hard to believe any rookie QB gets us to the playoffs let alone the record Rhule needs to keep his job.
