What were your expectations for this season?
outlaw4 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Expected the offense to make some strides forward, with the most certainty with pass protection given the O-line investment. Did expect the defense to be worse to where it would offset offensive gains. Was thinking between 4~7 wins but the injuries have been savage. Oh, and I am still expecting Tepper to do something incredibly stupid this season. -
I have serious doubts this was purely a performance-based decision. I mean, escorted out the building by the Director of Security?

Fat guy running with the ball!

Yeah, I feel relatively safe that Derek Carr isn't going to get the Saints anywhere relevant.

This is a rare moment when the Huddle was quite on point about the glaring issues regarding our center position and how it would bite this team hard if something bad happened.

Admittedly exciting game... but it's our rivals so I wanted a tie.

Do we attempt to extend Diontae this season?
outlaw4 replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
My gut feeling says he see us as a jumping off point to the biggest bidder/actual contender. -
What I'm saying is that the entire decision process back then on getting a QB period had some fundamental flaws that cannot be dismissed because we may have to go through that process yet again. We had an entire offseason to work on BY and - at least in my eyes - whatever he could've been got derailed by last season's experiences to where he may already be beyond repair. Or at least it may be someone else's problem to fix because we've already dealt with other people's broken QB's like David Carr, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield. We're not great at the fixing department.

Detroit is explosive but I've been noticing they commit a lot of dumb mistakes. Oh, and yet another penalty as I type.

Seahawks doing their best Panthers defense impression.

Damn, great execution with Goff catching a TD pass.

How many interceptions can a guy throw? Will Levis: Yes

The real problems were the decision to mortgage so much in the first place just to draft a QB, apparent errors in player evaluation, a (then) new coaching staff at odds with one another, inadequate protection and weapons for such an important investment and a meddling owner who - at one point - was willing to mortgage even more for Deshaun Watson of all people. So basically, I can't have the same vitriol against BY as others because ultimately, the entire process was not conducive to success for everyone involved. Also, changing the player isn't as difficult as the process to get the next one and that should be the main concern. Otherwise, enter next college QB name to bash around here.

I figured this was the case given how our luck is going but still... damm. Wouldn't blame him if he called it a career either.

Even worse, PM may have injured their best receiver by accident pretty bad on that pick play.

BREAKING: Giants looking to trade for Brian Burns
outlaw4 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not going to lie: I all but forgot Burns was with the Giants. Maybe it will click at some point, but deal not looking the best for the Giants right now. I think part of the CMC injury narrative was strengthened by the fact that he stayed relatively healthy his first year with the 49ers, implying he was simply making business decisions with us. Pretty much debunked right now. CMC is the tragedy of a player that has HOF talent but can't stay on the field.- 543 replies

I'd argue no QB other than the current generation GOAT - currently Mahomes - are worth their extension. You're paying that much money, I want Super Bowl appearances.

Night and day difference from last year. Still some protection breakdowns but seems more schematic than anything else. Lewis/Hunt are a godsend because to say the interior in 2023 was anything other than a sieve would be a lie. Yes, some sacks were on the QB but you're just setting up for failure when all the pressure is constantly coming right at your face.

Big man touchdown!

Falcants don't get the 4th down and lose. When's the last time we were the sole winner within our division for a game weekend?
-
Like seeing the Chiefs struggle... but it's the Falcons. Can we have a tie or something?
-
49ers actually lost? How did they choke that away?
-
Just remember, Bucs and Saints also lost plus the Falcons are very likely to lose against the Chiefs. It's a very good day.

Remember how Herbert messed up his ankle playing us last week? Yeah, he's out now because of that same ankle.

Eagles finally scored. Only took three quarters of baffling decisions.
