I’m aware. That’s why I mentioned him specially. None of these former coaches we are interviewing have the accolades or success that he had before he was fired and hired by KC.

I wish Tepper would just forget this idea of going after washed up coaches that have already been canned. There is no Andy Reid out there. Also, what are the chances Ben Johnson secretly wants this job more than the others because he’s from NC? I am holding on to hope this is somewhat true, as BJ is starting to emerge as my personal favorite.

Thank god

What’s the eta on this actually being done? I don’t remember how long it took with Rhule. Just curious how long I’ll have to keep refreshing this site and google before I can start complaining.

Look, I’m not a Wilkes fan by any means. I’m offense or bust as far as coaches. That said, we will have screwed the man big time if we hire any other candidate with a defensive background.

Steichen or Johnson. YES.

So which QB do we think will be available at #9?

Caleb Williams come on down. I would honestly be fine with that -
I think we finally trade up to get our QB. We have just failed too many times with this FA stuff. Teddy, Darnold, and Baker have all failed, for the most part. If I had to pick one I think we move up and grab Stroud. I do not think Levis, Stroud, or Young will be available at 9, so this is our move. As far as coaching, gut feeling is we unfortunately keep Wilks. I would love to be wrong and get Johnson or Steichen

STEVE WILKS - FINAL POLL THREAD
Kentucky Panther replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Panthers being in the playoff mix had much more to do with the short bus division we played in, not Wilks coaching us at a .500 clip. I’ve seen enough of him in big games at this point to think this is a clear no as far as keeping him. -
I’m on board. Not in a million years would Wilks/McAdoo run that play.

Have to find a way to grab a QB. If we don’t think one of the top 3 will be there when we pick, gotta trade up.

I think this is a huge reason why most of the fanbase doesn’t want him back. We are tired of this style of football. -

He did an average job once he took over. I absolutely do not want him to be out coach next season. -
No Jim Harbaugh - Carolina focusing attention elsewhere

It would just be the most Panthers thing ever if we turn a proven winner away and keep Wilks. Who probably already has more head scratching losses in his short career than Harbaugh does. I don’t mind if we pass on Jim, as long as we are still looking and considering candidates other than Wilks. -

I mean, it’s great that the players like him. Definitely a plus. That doesn’t mean he’s the best candidate for the job. -
whose your projected 2023 Panthers HC / QB combo

Harbaugh and Stroud or Levis. Young is going one. -

I don’t disagree as far as Corral. I would like to see what he can do before we completely cut ties. I am also thankful we no longer have to deal with Rhule. I am not asking to ship everyone out for as many picks as possible. I don’t think a whole rebuild is necessary. We have some solid pieces. That said, I think it would be best to get an offensive minded coach and pair him with the rookie he prefers. Let’s go from there. I think Wilks had his chance and blew it. We need a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways, including getting away from conservative, defensive minded coaches that I feel like we’ve had since I started following the team. We’ve got some decent assets if we want to trade up. Not saying we should or have to. I think one of the top 3 QBs will still be available at 9. -

I am just playing devils advocate as some of you guys beat your chests about being better fans because you think your line of thinking is far superior to anyone who thinks differently. If you aren’t fine with winning 5 games every year, not sure why there is such an issue with posters wanting the team to have a better draft pick. Teams that pick late in the draft already have solid pieces around their cornerstone players, particularly quarterback. We don’t have that. It’s much easier to put pieces around cornerstone players at key positions and stay relevant than trying to get those players at mid round picks. If we had a franchise QB it would be a different feeling. Like it or not, we have a better chance at getting a difference maker the earlier we pick. The AFC is considered the far superior conference at this point. All the good to great teams have drafted guys early in the first with the exception of Lamar, who still came in the first round.
