There’s just been a lot of regression this year. For starters, Noesen isn’t a first line player but he’s being forced to play there because of injuries, hopefully that changes when Patches or Teravainen comes back. However, even Teravainen has looked invisible this year. Moving on, Kotkaniemi and Jarvis are slumping, eventually you have to drop the ‘advanced stats’ rhetoric, if you don’t put up points then you are only so valuable. The third line is coming on as of late so I’ll leave them alone for right now. The fourth line isn’t providing anything, Stastny and Stepan are just out there to be out there right now. In hindsight, this team should have signed the younger Evan Rodrigues over Stastny. Burns has been okay but it’s clear that he’s not great defensively. Skjei and Pesce have been fantastic but they aren’t putting up the offensive numbers they did last year (at least Pesce isn’t). Then you have the third paring unit which is a black hole offensively. Then, all the goalies have regressed outside of Kochetkov. Now we move on to the system… the PP is still ass and the PK has gotten much worse. Then we get to the fact that we simply can’t score, out of all the teams currently in a playoff position, we average the least amount of goals per game (2.83). The system needs to be revamped, teams know that all we do is dump and chase and then fling pucks at the net. At this point all teams have to do is just park all five players in between the dots, more than likely the shot from the point will be blocked. And for fugs sake, bring in an outside pair of eyes for the power play, whatever the internal group is doing doesn’t work and has never worked. It’s obviously not the players. It’s time the coaching staff be held accountable along with the players.

I’d still give it a bit longer, in fact, I probably wouldn’t flip him until the deadline. I also think it’s important to have three capable goalies, especially come playoff time. Now if someone offered a first round pick for Andersen then I’d definitely listen.

For 12 straight years I dreaded hockey season.

Hockey is the only thing that’s got me through the last five years. The Panthers, Hornets, Heels (football) and at times Heels (basketball) have all fugged me.

Maybe not but it also is worth mentioning that Boo Corrigan is the chair of the CFP, if you don’t know, he’s the AD of none other than NCSU. Bottom line is Carolina faces an uphill battle regardless.

It’s not the NCAA, it’s the ACC. They get a poo ton of money for putting a team in the playoffs, they’ll do everything in their power to make sure they get a team in (and Clemson has the best chance). 7 years or so ago, UNC was playing Clemson in the ACC Championship game and recovered an onside kick to give them an opportunity to win the game, a phantom offside penalty was called and Clemson went on to win.

Not to mention the fact that Georgia Tech is playing a third string QB that transferred from Akron (and a one dimensional fourth string QB).

That’s really where Maye needs to develop as a passer, check downs and short routes. Even that last pass was off the mark but Gavin Blackwell made a nice grab.
