Nice article on the current makeup of our roster. For those that aren’t aware, each team is provided with eight international player slots, players on green cards do not take up an international player slot. The current makeup is as follows: Adam Armour (USA), Brandt Bronico (USA), Christian Fuchs (Austria - Green Card), Sergio Ruiz (Spain - Intl. Slot), Riley McGree (Australia - Intl. Slot), Jan Sobocinski (Poland - Intl. Slot), Guzman Corujo (Uruguay - Intl. Slot), and Jordy Alcivar (Ecuador - Intl. Slot) Five of Charlotte’s eight players currently occupy an international player slot. The good news is we have acquired two additional international player slots to bring our total to ten. That means that we have currently used five of our ten international player slots but we could see some of the slots open back up with a few of the above players in the process of obtaining green cards. Charlotte can still acquire three designated players (Alcivar may become one of them, it’s undecided) and they also have the expansion draft and MLS Super Draft coming up. The total roster is comprised of up to 30 players and with five players potentially being added during the expansion draft and an additional three players added in the SuperDraft, we’ll be well on our way to a full roster shortly.

I’m gonna be honest, the best KK has looked so far this year was on the fourth line with Stepan and Marty.

I still don’t think there’s been a solid argument for Cam not getting 100% of the snaps if he’s physically ready. Save Joe Brady calling a play that Cam doesn’t have down yet there is no reason why he should come off the field. I stated in another thread that you either believe that Cam can make all the throws that P.J. made this past week which ultimately lends credence to Cam getting all the snaps or you believe that P.J. will throw a better ball than Cam right now. They may script 30 or so plays to begin with and then give Cam a list of additional plays that they want him to know for certain situations… it’s not like he needs to learn the whole playbook this week. Ultimately it should come down to who gives you the best chance to win and Cam can simply do things that P.J. can’t.

That’s true… tbh I say I’d hate but then when it happened I’d be the one screaming my ass off.

I actually would hate this to be honest. I love that he’s back and all the nostalgia that comes with it but like he said, he’s here to win. It will start to feel more like the ‘retirement party’ if we start to pull stunts like this.

I didn’t say that it was ALL due to the fans but I did ask for an example similar to this one (in any sport), can you provide an example? We could have easily gone after RGIII or Blake Bortles but we came back to Cam.

Lyon looked solid and Leivo played decent, thankful for their service but excited to see what a fully healthy Canes lineup can do. The real thing here is…. who sits? This is an interesting point. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fanbase clamor for a particular player so much and actually get that particular player. This isn’t some NFL Draft situation where the fanbase universally agrees that they want such and such. This was a situation where an NFL franchise got rid of a player and the fanbase became so upset with the direction of the team that they begged to bring back the outcasted player. I can’t think of a situation where that has happened before.

People who aren’t giving him credit for the defense are foolish. Rhule and Snow have this defense playing at a level that Carolina fans have only seen a few times. The issue I have again is the process… so we missed out on Stafford; that’s not anyone’s fault. Watson likes tuggies so it was a no go; once again not anyone’s fault. I am in the same boat and don’t like Fields so no argument from me there. What wasn’t the right move is compounding the Bridgewater mistake by bringing on Darnold.

I already gave him credit for the defense… Brown, Chinn, Reddick, and Horn are all solid players and Snow has them playing at an elite level. Gilmore on the other hand was a Fitterer move as all the trades have been at his discretion. I think the issue here is that Igo basically stated that Tepper gave Rhule an ultimatum in regards to Cam’s return… it was at the point where Tepper wouldn’t let Gilmore have the number one jersey because it was already on his mind at that point. I actually think Rhule is a brilliant football mind and knows the X’s and O’s as good as anyone, with that said, one person shouldn’t be responsible for total control of a football team. Fans of Carolina sports should know this… MJ ruined Hornets basketball for years because he wouldn’t listen to anyone. Finally Kupchak talked some sense into him. I think Rhule will have success but it’s because of him taking a step back and letting our GM be the GM.

I’ll add this well since it won’t let me edit my original post. The guy who was the director of college scouting for the Seahawks and identified Russell Wilson in the third round probably knows more about identifying talent than the college coach who’s best QB’s have been P.J. Walker and Charlie Brewer.

You can’t be serious… giving full control to a college coach has never worked… Greg Schiano, Doug Marrone, Chip Kelly, Bill O’Brien, and now Rhule. Harbaugh was the only coach who had any success and his players ran him off because he was a dick. And it’s not just the QB position, it’s hard to evaluate every position, hell it took this staff just as long to find a kicker as it did to realize they made a mistake in releasing Cam. Using one example of Brady doesn’t make your case any stronger. The big issue here is that the answer truly was on the roster but now we are paying $40M more than we needed to in order to find out what we knew all along. Not to mention they didn’t even give Cam a chance to compete… it was a new coaching staff that was egotistical and wanted full control and knew they wouldn’t have full control as long as Cam was the QB because of his presence. Now you have everyone on here asking how we are going to keep Cam, Reddick, Gilmore, and Jackson… well we could have if we weren’t paying $40M to Rhule’s QB’s. Bottom line is Matt Rhule knows football, where he’s struggled so far is player evaluation and he was on the verge of getting himself fired until Tepper made him reach out to Cam.

Barnidge’s “pro wrestling” career was better than his NFL career… that’s saying something.

I get what DeAngelo is saying and to a point he’s right, Cam isn’t going to be the 2015 version of himself. But I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t put up similar numbers to Drew Brees in his final season in an offense that for all intents and purposes is supposed to emulate the Saints. If you were to ask me right now in a full 17 game season would I be happy with: 3,000 passing yards, 25TD’s/5INT’s, 70% completion percentage The answer would be 100% yes as I think our defense is good enough to where those numbers would allow us to compete with anyone. The main issue here is both of those guys just sound like the bitter old hag that can’t move on.

You’ll lose this argument, there’s countless videos on YouTube showing Brady’s “tackling attempts”. Unfortunately for Bridgewater it was his lack of attempt that did him in. Brady on the other hand is notorious for “attempting the tackle” in a certain manner where there is no shot that he will actually make the tackle. Example A: If Bridgewater would have done this no one would have said anything which is just as foolish as grilling the guy for not attempting the tackle at all.

The deep ball is going to be continuously brought up when it’s not an issue… For starters, in 2020 Cam’s passer rating was average or above average in 10 of the 12 passing zones. If he can maintain his 2020 numbers while limiting the interceptions then he will be fine. Secondly, above was Cam’s passer rating with a Patriots wide receiver corp that ranked in the bottom six in separation last year. With Moore, Anderson, Marshall, and Zylstra, along with non wide receiver players in Tremble, McCaffrey, Hubbard, and Abdullah, Cam should be able to find open receivers much easier. Finally, if Brady continues to scheme up plays like he did yesterday then the deep ball is really only an option just to keep the defense honest. The offense looked very Saintsesque yesterday with the amount of slants and short yardage routes that were drawn up. Cam will thrive in that type of offense and with how well this defense has been playing the Panthers could be a team that no one wants to face in the playoffs.

This is what he should have done.

Let’s be real… if I was a Denver fan I’d be upset. On the contrary, if I was a Denver fan and let’s say Josh Allen was the QB and the same play occurred I wouldn’t care. It’s a double-standard and it exists. I will say that over half the Broncos roster had a chance to make the tackle and they all failed… it’s easy to pick out Bridgewater but it really shouldn’t have gotten to that point. Like the papers read… business decision.

It sucks for Teddy but there is a double-standard for this type of play. If this was Murray, Allen, Mahomes, or any other elite QB then you likely wouldn’t hear anything about this. Because it’s Bridgewater (average starter at best) people expect him to risk a possible injury to make the tackle. I still wish Cam wouldn’t have chased down Trovon Reed in the Chargers game… it would be interesting to see where he would be today if he never suffered his initial shoulder injury on that tackle.

The coaching staff knows football I think it was obvious from the start of the year with how well the defense played. What they struggle with is personnel and player decisions. Rhule should have never been given control of the team. That poo never works out and it nearly got his ass canned. Luckily Tepper stepped in and made an executive decision. It’s cliche but if everyone does their job then this team should be fine. Let Tepper be the owner, Fit be the GM, Rhule be the coach, and the players play.

It’s Gilmore (as the one left out) and it’s obvious (unless he takes a team friendly deal). He’s 31 and has a significant history of injuries. - Hand Wrist Fracture (5 Games), Inguinal Hip Tear (Off-season Surgery), Inguinal Groin Pull (1 Game), First Concussion (1 Game - Season Finale), Torn Labrum (Final 4 Games - Surgery), Second Concussion (1 Game - Season Finale), Third Concussion (3 Games), Knee Strain (3 Games), Quad Tear (Final 5 Games - PUP List starting 2021) Not to mention the age wall for CB’s is right around 27 before they start to decline. In 2019 there were 263 players that qualified for PFF’s coverage grading, only 20 of those individuals were over 30 and only 5 ranked in the top 25 in PFF’s grading (Jason McCourty, Devin McCourty, Richard Sherman, Joe Haden, Janoris Jenkins). Their current contracts are as follows: Jason McCourty - still an above average player - 1 yr./$1.2M (Dolphins) Devin McCourty - slightly above average player - 2 yr./$23M (Patriots) Richard Sherman - below average player - 1 yr./$1.35M (Bucs) Joe Haden - slightly above average player - 2 yr./$22.4M (Steelers) Janoris Jenkins - still an above average player - 2 yr./$15M (Titans) In all likelihood Gilmore will want a Joe Haden contract and the Panthers will want a Jenkins contract. If Gilmore declines you go with the younger player in Donte Jackson or the elite pass rusher in Reddick. If Gilmore agrees to a Jenkins type contract then you structure it exactly like the Titans did… cap hit of $4.5M in the first year and $10.5 in the second year. With Darnold, Erving, Bouye, and Fox coming off the book next year there would still be plenty of room to re-sign D.J. Moore.

I coach for a club team and high school team in central Virginia. The individual I coach under has tons of UEFA licenses and is working on his USSF licenses right now. I believe he just finished his B license so I’m hopeful that when he moves on to the college ranks I’ll just tag along. He’s told me he’ll bring me to Wales the next time he goes home so I’m pretty excited about that.

We could have kept everyone if we didn’t pickup that stupid ass 5th year option… Can I get how to ruin a football team for $500 Alex?
