  1. We have to go BPA with the state of our roster. That’s how the Lions built their roster and it is something to mimic. They were widely panned for taking a RB and LB in the first round, but they were both BPA in their rankings, and it paid off handsomely for them. We need great players and not reach for a position.
  2. Completely disagree (which is ok) that Tepper sold Young to the org. Fitt loved him for years and it has been reported over and over that the whole org was sold on him. But I agree that Tepper was probably ecstatic that his preferred face of the franchise was the same player pushed by the GM and coach.
  3. Ability to get open and create separation should be an absolute priority. I don’t care if they run a 4.7 Throw out the RAS metrics. Draft someone like McConkey. No more projects with upside kind of bs in round 2-3, that’s for round 6-7.
  4. Just did a few rounds, but would love to see it:
  5. I believe the general perception is that Wilks wasn’t as good as Saleh and Ryans. They both were good enough to get HC jobs. I’ve seen some numbers backing up the notion of a strong year for the 49ers defense, and it was. But it didn’t reach the heights it has in the past, despite same or better roster. The expectations for a DC on that team are just so high. I wish he would have gone there and blown the doors off, but that just didn’t happen.
  6. There were signs throughout the season that they were not on the same page, so I’m not surprised. I think Shanahan wanted a different type of defense so the hire was a bit odd to begin with. But the Super Bowl loss itself is all on Shanahan, his offense did not deliver, players not aware of overtime rules speak of issues with preparations etc. I feel bad for Wilks, but in the end I just don’t think the two of them were a good match.
  7. I don’t know if there is a single player in the NBA that is as up and down as PJ. You never know what you’re going to get with him.
  8. If an o-line player is BPA at 33 (Jackson Powers-Johnson is my top pick if available) I would take him without hesitation.
  9. I thought the same thing, this could have been a sarcastic article from the Onion.
  10. It’s one thing to do trades, but to bomb every pick you acquired in those trades is wild. I mean we have a full time group of people that spend 100% of their time scouting players. It is absolutely wild how it can be this bad. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We would be better off just using Dane Brugler draft guide.
  11. Agree, his attitude and defensive tenacity is exactly what this team needs.
  12. If we didn’t have Young I would pick Maye. If we had Young I would also pick Maye.
  13. I would extend him as well. He’s never injured, plays a position where you can play a long time, he’s a very good player that (I think at least) wants to be here, he’s a team leader etc.
  14. I like Steve, he seems like a great man without doubt. And I’m very happy for him. I was just anticipating the hype squad saying him being in the superbowl somehow makes him a great coach. The last couple of games have been really rough in the 49ers defense, despite being stacked with talent.
  15. Steve is a great guy, but the 49ers defense has been significantly underperforming for a while now since he took over.
  16. If play calling is what he loves, what a great spot he’s in. Dan can do all the leadership stuff and Ben can stay in his lab coming up with new stuff, and still get paid a ton. Good for him. But he should have handled it better imo.
  17. If we trade Burns I can absolutely see us going after Higgins hard. Higgins should cost a bit less that Burns, so that would be one way to make room for him.
  18. Yeah that’s my concern as well.
  19. Yup, we’ve had enough guys who can win a contested catch in college but can’t get open in the NFL
  20. When he has the time to fully step in to his throws and conditions are ideal, he can probably make most standard short to intermediate throws. But he has never had a good deep ball, not even in College. He will struggle to go beyond intermediate throws and that gives the defense somewhat of an advantage as they don’t really need to account for it. We will do everything we can to build on what he does well, but unfortunately that puts a ceiling to what we can achieve as a team. Btw, I would love to be wrong as I’m all about us having success. Team success is number one, and if Bryce is not that guy we need to move on to someone else the following year.
  21. Essentially every owner in the NFL has weekly meetings with the GM and HC. It is so weird that people have an issue with that. The other points are legit if the owner imposes game day decisions (I do think this mostly is very exaggerated fan fiction) I don’t agree with it, but if I had Frank trying the same things every week with the same results, I probably would ask some questions about it and ask “have you thought about x y z”.
  22. Haha, fair point, I didn’t think about that
  23. Dan is not a great speaker, but he has a lot of fire and conviction. He is very different from Fitt in that regard. I mentioned before, but he was openly saying we currently suck, we don’t have the right players etc. I really liked what I heard from him.
  24. Good, strong press conference. They both came across as very passionate, clear on what they need to and want to do. Dan went on (in a good way) about how we need a different mind set, different players etc. He more or less said we suck and we are soft right now. It was very refreshing that he called that out.
