For the same reason as before, because he thinks David Tepper will make it happen (also why he thought we'd draft Fields). Since we've now learned that Tepper isn't involved in football decisions, I'm not buying it. Honestly at this point, I'm not sure we were ever as "all in" on Watson as people thought. The behind the scenes stuff regarding the Darnold deal makes it sound like that whole thing was vastly overblown.

For the record, looks like we weren't interested.

He bid farewell to Washington because he's signing with Philadelphia.

A Brag and Something to Remember
Mr. Scot replied to Little Goody Two Shoes's topic in Carolina Panthers
Speaking as someone who's chucked his lunch midfield during a two-a-day, hell yes it's work if you're actually giving it your best. Congrats to your boy. -
I'm pretty sure you could write everything you know about football on a Post-It note and still have room for a grocery list.
-
If Darnold doesn’t live up to expectations I suspect we'll look to the draft.

Panthers sign Delano Hill, Kendall Donnerson

Not likely. -
Panthers sign Delano Hill, Kendall Donnerson

Two signed, three waived...not sure if that means something. -
To make room for them on the roster, the team waived kicker Matt Ammendola, linebacker Daniel Bituli, and defensive tackle P.J. Johnson.
-
Wouldn't count on that. For one, barring a spectacular fail, I expect Darnold starts the next two years. But if it turns out he isn't the guy, I think we'll look to the draft for our next option.

That too. The pattern could very well indicate compulsive behavior. Looking beyond the legal stuff though, there's another aspect as well... The perceived interest we had before was all based around the idea that David Tepper wanted him and was willing to move heaven and earth to get him. We now know that Tepper (wisely) isn't driving football decisions, choosing instead to allow Fitterer and Rhule to run the "football stuff" without interference. That changes the whole dynamic.

We kept saying that same thing when the number of lawsuits were escalating too. And every time, the announcer kept saying "but wait there's more".

Draft Analysis: "A massive value-destroying error"?
Mr. Scot replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
Word was that Tepper and some others in the building liked Fields, but Fitterer and Rhule didn't like him as much as Darnold. Rhule talking about how low the hit rate for first round QBs is would seem to confirm that story. -
It doesn't prove that at all. It's extremely tough for women to get justice in situations like this. Sometimes things like this are the only path. Heck, look at what happened with Jerry Richardson. That's a prime example. And trust me, if you ever talk to a victim, you'll know it's not so black and white as you're thinking.
-
Seriously doubt it. Even if he settles what he has now, you're always gonna be wondering whether something else might come to light. Plus I'm pretty sure we still have people working for the team who were hot on by Jerry Richardson. You bring in a guy accused of similar issues and make him the face of the franchise, what does that say to them?

They did exist, but they're in the past. What he does here, now, in our system isn't guaranteed to look like those years. And like it or not, he's the guy now. The team didn't pick who you wanted, and all the pissing and moaning in the world won't change that. You can either cheer for us to win with him or hope we lose just so you can say you were right. I suspect you'll choose option two, which is your right but makes you a sh-tty fan. -
Apparently getting started... I won't be able to follow till later.

Some would argue that declaring it stupid before we see how it works out is actually kind of...stupid. -

"Keep pounding" is definitely number one. I'd say "He's got a narrow ass" should be on the list. -

Our buddy Ellis discovered a disclaimer... A draft analysis that's "independent of future results"... Yeah, sure
