I think they tried, but the Lions got the guy they wanted one damn pick ahead of us. And much as I love OL, I'm glad they stuck to their board rather than reaching for need. They can still go O-line today of course.

We have to go tackle in the second round, right?
Mr. Scot replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've said before that I see this as year one of the rebuild rather than year two. That hasn't changed for me. It's also possible that if we shore up other positions this year, we could be in a good spot to use our 2022 top pick to find a left tackle. -
Elway is terrible at evaluating QBs. Pretty much everybody agrees on that. Paton was part of the front office that brought Kirk Cousins to Minnesota. At their presser, Paton said that after trading for Bridgewater, they no longer felt the need to draft a quarterback. Like I mentioned elsewhere, I know some people aren't happy that we chose Darnold over Fields, but imagine what we'd be saying if our braintrust stuck with Bridgewater.

For what it's worth, we have a lot of cap space next year. -
Elway's not making the choices in Denver anymore. George Paton is. Elway basically did what some here thought we might do with Marty and "promoted" himself out of the GM job.

They could also get somebody like Eichenberg. I've only seen one second day mock so far today. It had us taking Jenkins. -
Tepper wanted Fields. Let his guys make the football decisions

Fitterer said he was the top player on their board at the time. So no, I don't think he was their top player overall. The Bears have already said that Andy Dalton is their starter. -

He still should. Jerry Jones used that kind of logic after Bill Parcells left. Since Parcells didn't win a Super Bowl, Jones reasoned that meant he was just as good as Parcells. -
Lawrence? Probably not, but then if we were in a position to take Lawrence we probably wouldn't have traded for another quarterback. Wilson? Unknown. Not every team was as high on him as the Jets were.

Or move Moton to the left. -
SI's second day mock has us taking Teven Jenkins.

Ellis said the same. And yes, this was the right thing to do. -
If that helps you sleep better It's been said that we'll likely be picking up that 5th year option shortly.

Aaaaaand here's why... Seriously Sounds like Lock might not be heading out way after all.

BREAKING: A.Rodgers wants out of Green Bay

Nah Have you ever thought about how much time you spend on here trying to talk to me (usually about just one thing) when there are loads of other people and topics on here? Perhaps you should. -
Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn

Bottom line for me: Didn't get the guy I wanted (oh, so close) but we did stick to our draft board, made what I think will be a good pick and shored up a position of need. I'm good with that. Let's see what tomorrow brings. -

Wrong perception, dude. Think of it as being taught how to fish -

Having one and playing against the Patriots has also been known to work. -

I've generally found the best way to win games is to have your offense score points while your defense keeps the other team from scoring points (special teams can also help out in both directions) -

I'm pretty sure several people on here can easily answer that question. I'm surprised you can't -

Wow You participated in a 30 page thread where people were arguing that the Panthers would take Fields because Albert Breer and Peter King (among others) were mocking him to the Panthers based on the rationale that Tepper wanted him. I was one of the people arguing against that being the right way to go. One fun thing: You got schooled in that same thread over your prediction that Teddy Bridgewater wouldn't be traded and wouldn't take a pay cut. I'm guessing you "don't remember" that either, but the fun thing is it's still on the board where everybody can see it -

I already did And seriously dude, give it up. Nothing you say is going to happen ever happens. Going back to when you said we'd keep Marty Hurney, you're up to something like a dozen wrong prognostications in a row, not one of them even close to correct. It's time to get out of the prediction business -
Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select CB Jaycee Horn
Mr. Scot replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I didn't see that specific clip. It's possible he was just discussing what he thought was going on. Don't know. Rhule and Fitterer did answer some questions tonight where they basically indicated they were committed to Darnold. -
Matt Rhule on Jaycee Horn - Why he is the best fit
Mr. Scot replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Haven't seen where they've said anything too specific about Fields, and they might not. The closest I've seen to any explanation was Bill Voth saying that from what he saw, the braintrust was "never really gaga" over him. They did seem to indicate that they like Darnold better when asked, so it could just be as simple as that. -

What Voth, Rhule and Fitterer have said since doesn't necessarily fit that narrative.
