I'm not really sure there is an explanation for the Saints and the cap...probably not from any of us anyway.

The Lions could potentially draft a QB, but I don't know that I'd call them QB hungry. There are others though...

Meanwhile, in Buffalo... Now that'd be sumthin'

I cheered for the team last year, during all of 2001 and through fifteen seasons of Marty Hurney. Kinda doubt I'm gonna stop now.

In the process of buying a house and our washing machine just went on the fritz... Oy

I do, and I haven't either. It's possible that it has, but I can't remember an example.

From what I understand, his trade is voided because he didn't meet certain conditions (apparently related to opting out). Can't say I've ever seen anything like that before. Expectation is the 49ers won't keep him.

Report: we missed out on CB Shaquill Griffin

I mean if the choice is between losing out and overpaying, I'd probably rather lose out. -
Released by the Saints, my bad It's been one of those days.

Erving? Isn't Erving getting more money than Elflein? -
Well, this is different.

FYI: The Saints have also signed Steve Smith's old buddy Janoris Jenkins.
-
With us going away from a Coryell type offense, that skill set may not have been as valuable.

Also apparently interested in this guy...

Technically they still have until 4pm tomorrow to get under the cap. I think at this point, they're making calls to Hogwarts to see if they've got a school of accounting.

NFL history has plenty of ugly holdout and/or trade request stories. I think the most recent one is probably Earl Thomas. That ended with him being carted off the field while flipping off the fans. Has there been one with a franchise quarterback before though? Not sure. Closest thing I can think of to that was when Elway and Manning said they wouldn't play for the teams that were planning to draft them. That's not really the same though given that at the time they were still just highly regarded prospects and there wasn't a signed contract involved.

Sure.

To the Saints... Ouch
