Amusingly enough, despite statements indicating that we'd be taking our time, the Panthers are the first team to announce a deal with another team's player in both the legal tampering period and the official opening of free agency
-
Word from Aaron Wilson that Watson is being represented by an attorney named Rusty Hardin. I think I just heard somebody chuckle
-
Yeah, that's a good move.
-
With the deadline passing, the agreements can now become official. Also means that Efe Obada is now an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team (like Buffalo or Washington).
-
Obada is now officially an unrestricted free agent.

4pm... Aaaaaand we're live!
-
This one's valid...

Thought I saw this confirmed by another source but I could be wrong. It's the season for that
-
I think McClain said a while back that they weren't interested in Bridgewater.
-
Yep, and new GMs frequently don't see players quite the same way prior GMs did. Sometimes that's a good thing for the player, but often it's not.

Deshaun Watson has lawsuit filed against him by Tony Buzbee
Mr. Scot replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
They could be counting on the climate in the wake of #metoo and such. And of course, who hears the case is a huge deal. -
That is one thing we don't have to offer. Of course if we did, would we be having this discussion?
-
I sent Lady Cowboy Fan one of those once. Specifically, it was of Dick Van Dyke (amazingly, she's still with me)

Deshaun Watson has lawsuit filed against him by Tony Buzbee
Mr. Scot replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I think picking him was a poor choice. I'd say the electronic stuff is probably the biggest deal here. If it's vague, probably nothing. If it backs up her story though, yikes! -
He has an offer from the Panthers, just not an RFA tender offer. Per prior discussions, Obada reportedly thinks he's worth more than what the team is giving. They technically still have until 4pm (just over an hour).
-
Very possible.

Deshaun Watson has lawsuit filed against him by Tony Buzbee
Mr. Scot replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Per the documents, he said something that sounded threatening before leaving. If the story that she told is true, I can understand filing the lawsuit. And given that there are a lot of references to electronic communication between the two, it's possible there's some documentation to back it up. Those "ifs" are, of course, the big question mark right now. -
If Ian Rapoport is correct, that might be a waste of time. Even if the trade does happen, there's no guarantee it happens quickly. Also fair to point out that Verge didn't say it was happening today or even soon.

Raiders trying to see if they can get anything for Rodney Hudson rather than just cutting him. Second or third for a guy who's considered one of the best linemen in the league doesn't sound like a bad deal, but he is over 30.
-
LaCanfora reports that the Bears offers a wide choice of players, including Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks. Seattle still said no.

Giants get Kenny Golladay
-
The strategy itself isn't necessarily bad. Doing it for the wrong player is.
-
Man, I'd forgotten Palmer even played for the Raiders. (guessing he didn't really do anything memorable there like he did with the Cardinals)
-
Was Palmer traded or released? I've forgotten. (I could look it up but I'm feeling lazy)
-
Jay Cutler is the only trade of a franchise quarterback I can think of, and that didn't involve a holdout or a disgruntled player.
