The Twitter page this story came from is full of bullsh-t. But with that said, after what's happened so far this offseason, I could definitely see the Panthers giving Trubisky a try.

Boy, if this quote doesn't beat all...

Possible but I doubt it, especially with King saying we were "competing" for him. Honestly, if not for the Goff thing, we may well have gotten it done. -

The Rams are definitely built to win now. Whether they're built to be successful in the long term is a separate question. -
It's not an absolute that we go into another year with Bridgewater. Just we might not get a franchise guy. It's also possible we get another bridge guy / reclamation project like Trubisky.

Getting some details filled in now.... Additionally, Schefter confirms that all seven of the teams who were in heavy talks with Detroit offered at least a first round pick, and more. So yeah, it looks like we were ready to offer #8, plus... -
There are a lot of people who question whether Newton is willing to be a backup. I seriously question whether anybody's offering him a starting job though.
-
Believe it or not, Adam Schefter says that's still possible. What worries me more though is we thought that somebody else who wants a quarterback badly trades up with them. A couple of different sources of pointed out that the Lions would be in a really good spot to trade down now.

Part of me wonders if Sean Payton would do it just to piss the Panthers off. I don't honestly believe he's that petty, but still...

I don't think Watson is gonna happen. -
It's conceivable this one deal may have torpedoed both of them.
-
That probably depends on two things, the first being how patient David Tepper is willing to be. But the second, and more significant factor, what does Matt Rhule really think about Mac Jones?

Do we really have the capital to do that though? I wasn't a real big believer in the possibility of getting Watson anyway, but after today I just can't see it. Trubisky? I suppose it's possible if we're interested. I'm starting to think if Rhule really does believe in Mac Jones (and there's evidence to that effect) he's the guy. Maybe not at #8 but who knows? -
I know the team is gung-ho to get a quarterback this year, but I'm increasingly less convinced it's going to be possible to get a true quarterback of the future. it feels like if we do acquire one, it's gonna be somebody around the quality of Mac Jones.

From what I've been reading, it sounds like we had pretty strong interest in Stafford. I'm not at all sure where we go from here. -
Quick note on Cam Newton, by the way... On a recent podcast, Albert Breer was asked about where Newton might end up this season. He threw out one obvious option (Washington) but also mentioned the Saints as a possibility where he'd back up Jameis Winston. Newton being a Saint could possibly...provoke some discussion on here.

Person pointed out that even if it does, they're in a very good position to trade back if someone else wanted to move into that spot and take a quarterback.
-
That includes Cam Newton, of course. Picking a quarterback high and sticking with him doesn't exactly seem to be a common practice right now.

New board software has been a little weird for a lot of people.

I don't doubt that we offered first round pick. But something along that level? Yikes! -
Not sure who you meant to quote there but I'm not the one who said that.

From what I've been reading, unwillingness to take on Goff's contract was what was holding up the deal. When the Rams offered enough that the Lions relented, that's when it happened.
