  1. He has a rep for being an underachiever. And his being dumped by th last two teams who had him doesn't look good. It's possible he gets another shot, but I'm fine if he doesn't (here, anyway).
  2. I am too, but I also don't think James Jones is very good.
  3. I wonder if Marcus Lucas makes it over Scott Simonson based on position versatility.
  4. I remember people going nuts over Jamal Robertson too. Looked dominant in preseason, but when he was called upon against starters, he faded.
  5. I won't scream either way. It's a good problem to have.
  6. He had a good block on a blitz pickup last night too.
  7. Gettis never showed anything in the regular season.
  8. I can give you a quick way to find 'em. Just search the phrase "waka waka", "wakka wakka" or "wocka wocka" on The Huddle. Every instance you find will correlate with a good play by Whittaker.
  9. FYI: For Twitterites, I've linked Twitter pages for several of the players hoping to make the final squad over in the "when to expect cuts " thread here. Players have been known to post their fates on social media before they're officially announced.
  10. I think it's better than a small chance that someone else picks him up, but I don't buy that it's the lock some have made it out to be. People thought someone would surely snap up lee Ward too.
  11. Whittaker had way more than just one good play last year.
  12. Sunday, I think at 1pm locally. NFL Network will replay it too if you have them (check the listings)
  13. Iffy on Carrington Byndom right now. I like him a lot, but flailing like a fish while a guy catches a ball untouched behind you is not a good final image to leave in the minds of the coaches.
  14. The choices are tougher than previous years, and we will be letting good players go. This is what happens when you start building a better team.
  15. I'd guess he's referring to a lot of people being disappointed that we didn't trade for a bigger name.
  16. Oh, I think they mean it. And while they say they don't look at position quotas, it has to factor in somewhat. Mind you, I do believe last year's experience of winding up so thin at running back that they had to sign guys off the street is still fresh in their minds and could influence these decisions. If Wegher does stick on the 53, it might be at the expense of another position. I just don't buy that he should beat out Fozzy.
  17. On the line, while I'm not dead certain Amini Silatolu gets cut, it wouldn't shock me at all.
  18. On this, we agree. I think Fozzy played only sparingly last night because he's safe, and I agree he should be. He's arguably the best screen pass runner we have. The fight for the final RB spot was between Wegher and Todman, and I think Todman won. And while it is very possible Wegher gets picked up on waivers, I don't buy that it's an absolute lock.
  19. I'm more of the mind that just making any change because we've got to do something is kinda silly. If you're gonna make a move, have a good reason to do it. And make sure it's something that makes sense in the long term, not just the short term. Basically, think like Gettleman, not like Hurney.
  20. Ah yes the old "they used to be good, so they must still be" logic. Lord knows that argument never fails. Reality: Those guys aren't as good as you think they are. And if passing on them is some huge mistake, it sure seems like one an awful lot of teams were willing to make.
  21. I can tell you a big part of the issue is some of our loudest complainers put way too much value on guys that they think we should have gone after. Afraid I just don't buy the notion that guys like Hakeem Nicks, Denarius Moore and the like would mean a receiving corps that puts the fear of God in people. (it's just trading one set of marginal/backup quality guys for a different set)
  22. Trade the next two first rounders for a veteran name people have heard of with only one year left on his contact. Then smile and say "hey, we did something".
