Mike Kaye threw out the possibility that the Panthers could put in a claim for him. I'd laugh if they put a monkey wrench in Belichick's plans
-
Jerry Jones isn't somebody I typically accuse of having any plan, much less a master plan. (for the record, neither does Lady Cowboy Fan)

Kaye theorizes the Panthers could actually take a look at Bailey Zappe, among others. On Zappe: Matt Corral had an up-an-down preseason, so it’s fair to wonder if he is long for the roster. Zappe, a 2022 fourth-round pick, started four games as a rookie and flashed a bit in his playing time. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound signal-caller could be viewed as an upgrade for the squad as the third quarterback. Zappe was cut by the Patriots after he threw for 781 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in his first year with the team. Other options Kaye mentions include RB Dewayne McBride and DT Ross Blacklock

You didn't know that was coming? It's been talked about for days. The Cowboys agreed to let Grier audition in the last preseason game after they traded for Lance. Speculation right now is the delance trade signals negotiations with Dak Prescott aren't going particularly well.

Person's post cutdown thoughts... Rough day for Matt Rhule guys Rhule had a big say in personnel during his three seasons in Carolina. But Reich and the new staff said goodbye to five of the draft picks from Rhule’s tenure. All were third-day picks: receiver Shi Smith, cornerbacks Keith Taylor and Stantley Thomas-Oliver, linebacker Brandon Smith and offensive lineman Deonte Brown, who was waived at roster cutdowns for the second year in a row. Brandon Smith was the highest draft pick among Tuesday’s casualties. The Panthers took Smith in the fourth round from Rhule’s Penn State alma mater despite very little college production. Smith, Taylor and Brown were part of an 11-player class in 2021. Six of the seven players chosen on the third day that year are gone, with running back Chuba Hubbard (fourth round) the lone man standing. Thomas-Oliver’s exit means only three players remain from the all-defensive draft class brought in by Rhule and Marty Hurney in 2020 shortly after Rhule was hired: first-round pick Derrick Brown and second-rounders Yetur Gross-Matos and Chinn.

Who let you in?
-
FYI: Current waiver priority
-
I'd happily take a 6th or a 7th for Corral. If we got more than that, I'd be thrilled.
-
Thought about that as a possibility too. Hell, I'd take a sixth or seventh.
-
Brought up that possibility in another thread. You'd have to think O'Brien would be at least somewhat familiar with him from his time as Alabama OC.
-
I'd be interested to know which teams were in potential trade discussions. Gotta figure those teams are gonna be calling him now.
-
Marty sometimes found a good players. He also all too frequently found mediocre to bad ones. Ultimately, if you want to accurately judge a GM, you pretty much have to look at the whole roster. Marty just didn't build winning teams, even when he had cornerstone guys like Newton and Kuechly to build around.
-
Don't know. If I remember correctly, O'Brien was still at Alabama when Corral was at Ole Miss. Pretty sure he played against the tide at some point in his last few seasons. If O'Brien liked what he saw, then maybe...
-
Just saw it reported that he's been released
-
Gotta imagine they're looking at someone.
-
Comparing notes...
-
I think the general perception is that he's lost a step or two, or...several

Trade: Panthers Acquire Ihmir Smith-Marsette from Chiefs
Mr. Scot replied to Bluetooth's topic in Carolina Panthers
Way better than getting fired on your day off -
Kinda wonder if they'll ask him to stick around as a coaching intern or something of that sort.
