Eagles guys Will be available at that time (and Chiefs guys, if we're interested in any of them). Might still have to wait if there's anybody they want from the Colts staff, though.
-
Update that's not a shock... Doesn't specifically state he won't be returning in any other capacity but the way this is worded, I wouldn't bet on it.

Looks like the Saints are pushing hard

Also found this comment from former teammate Steve Smith on McCown from Pro Football Network Steve Smith spoke glowingly about McCown’s potential as a head coach “Josh sees the game the way quarterbacks see it, a certain way, and they have so many responsibilities,” said Smith, a retired Pro Bowl wide receiver who was teammates with McCown with the Carolina Panthers and have remained close friends. “I like Josh. He’s been on so many teams that he knows half of the offenses in the league because he’s been around a lot of teams as the backup. He’s assisted in developing the quarterbacks to see it a certain way. I think he’s helped coaches with game plans. It’s an advantage for a coach to have been a backup quarterback. Let’s be honest. When I see a backup quarterback get in the game, at some point, he will reveal why he’s a backup. “The true essence of a backup’s value is because they study so much that they have to be a second pair of eyes for the quarterback, the coach, and the offensive coordinator. That’s a unique responsibility. Not everybody is built for it, but backup quarterbacks have a unique advantage in studying the game and knowing so much. Frank Reich, Doug Pederson, Jason Garrett, they were all backup quarterbacks. They’ve seen the inside of the game. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Josh is being considered for a head coaching job.” “I know Josh in a way that’s a little bit different. Josh is my guy. We talk a lot. We have familiar stories with our families. We’ve had ski trips together, barbecues. Me and him are good friends, but I’m a realist and I’m not going to lie for him. I know how good he is and how much he knows about this game. I told him, (laughing) if he needs a receivers coach, don’t call me.” Man, I will be really disappointed if this rumor turns out to be bullsh-t

Here's a tidbit from Dan Pompei in The Athletic... McCown was a backup for most of his career, a coaching advantage he has discussed with Colts head coach Frank Reich, another longtime backup. “When you are a starter, there are so many things you don’t see because you are so focused,” McCown says. “When you are a backup, you have this wider lens because the pressure of playing is not necessarily at the forefront. You may notice the starting nickel having a bad day. Something is going on with him. You see how it’s handled as an organization, or how you can step up and encourage somebody.” ... McCown tries to study two to three NFL games a day from a variety of teams. He keeps current on college and high school trends as well. He talks football with Ballard, Reich, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and Texas-San Antonio coach Jeff Traylor, one of McCown’s coaches at Jacksonville. Link So apparently, they're friends. Things may have just gotten more interesting

Yep. Spent a couple years playing for the Panthers too. Don't know that he and Reich ever crossed paths but they came close. McCown joined the Eagles a little after Reich went to the Colts. I daresay he'd be another home run hire as a QB coach.

Lemme throw one more Brown quote in here... Related to his "dumb guys get you beat" quote, Brown was asked about what type of players the Colts look for. His answer: "Smart, fast and physical"
-
More from Brown... Notable Quote from this clip: Dumb guys get you beat
-
Side Note: Brown sure would be fun
-
Don't know if this is believable but that'd actually be a damn good choice.

Talked previously here about people with connections to Reich. Here are two that come to mind... Morocco Brown: Brown currently holds the title of Chief Personnel Executive with the Colts. He's previously worked in personnel roles for the Redskins, Browns and Bears. He has some Carolina connections in that his first NFL boss was original Panthers GM Bill Polian and he's a graduate of NC State. Worth noting as well that Brown has been interviewed by multiple teams for GM openings. Ed Dodds: The current Colts Assistant GM has more and deeper connections than Brown in that he's not only worked with Reich but also with Scott Fitterer and Dan Morgan for several years in Seattle. And yes, he's also had multiple GM interviews, including with us (he pulled out of the search shortly after interviewing). The problem here would be that Dodds already has an Assistant GM role so a position like Stewart's would be a step down. Either of these guys would be a home run addition to the front office. Brown would obviously be the more likely of the two given their respective positions but there is a scenario where Dodds and the Colts could part ways if Colts owner Jim Irsay insists on hiring Jeff Saturday and Dodds isn'ton board with tying his career to that decision.
-
Williams makes it sound like they're parting amicably but Stewart might be a little disappointed. Mentioned that he's previously worked with Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort so I wonder if he lands there. (and if he does, would he be willing to help facilitate trade talks with us)
-
For anybody that's with the Colts, you probably have to wait until they finish their head coaching search. (otherwise known as the "please, anybody but Jeff Saturday" quest)
-
Kaye clarifies further in response to a question...
-
Probably depends on how closely tied Johnson is to to Hurts. (wasn't aware of the connection Kaye mentions here till now)
-
Speaking of Wilson...
-
That question gets asked every year.
-
Kaye makes it sound like a Brian Johnson hire isn't likely... If Kaye is right and we're looking for an OC from the Eagles, Kevin Patullo might be the guy. Worth noting that Patullo has a direct connection to Frank Reich while Brian Johnson doesn't.
-
And Sapp... It's like the All Bullsh-t Squad
-
The Cardinals had reportedly narrowed their choices down to two candidates: Giants OC Mike Kafka and Bengals DC Lou Anarumo. Neither of those would require waiting until after the Super Bowl, so this news has led to some speculation.
-
Side Note: The pipeline still exists And to be fair, he has been. He's just not who I'd want for a DC.

Athletic mock from today Top 6 picks
Mr. Scot replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
If I'm trading up to third overall, it ain't for Richardson. -
Quick Note: I know everyone is likely aware that we might be waiting until after Sunday to try and snare a coach or two from the Eagles staff, but that may not be the only team we're waiting on. And no, I don't mean the Chiefs, though that's possible (Matt Nagy has been suggested as an OC candidate). I'm referring to the Colts. The Colts still haven't hired a new coach (ahem, Jeff Saturday) and until they do, their assistants are in limbo. It's been mentioned that DC Gus Bradley will likely be kept, but the fate of the others is still up in the air. So Monday could tell us a lot. In

I don't think Turner was bad.
