  1. Staffing questions are typically part of the interview process.
  2. That's probably the most accurate. Possible, or it could be one of those things that a load of fans go apesh-t over just to see it not happen. (see also: Deshaun Watson)
  3. Tepper wanting to make a splash typically leads to bad decisions. Actually, Tepper just generally makes bad decisions regardless.
  4. Lousy in general. Demanding, never happy, unreasonable, etc. As far as Rhule, the behind the scenes articles have indicated that relationship fractured before the first season was even fully over.
  5. No. I like Maye, but pining for next year's quarterbacks isn't exactly a good strategy.
  6. It's been reported previously the Tepper has gained a reputation around the league of being a lousy boss to work for. That's probably something that's going to factor into our coaching search. Young guys looking for their first opportunity might not be too worried about it, but duys with options might.
  7. Our last two searches took very different paths. For the GM search, they seemed to be interviewing everybody they could find. Of course the coaching search ended quickly because Hurney and Tepper got hoodwinked by Matt Rhule.
  8. Sometimes it's for good reason. (Matt Nagy, for example)
  9. I don't think you could take anything Matt Rhule said post firing at face value because he was a lying sack of sh-t trying to save face. Reid and Veach have consistently said the same things and don't really have any reason to lie.
  10. Tampering rules would prevent them from reaching out to anybody currently employed by another NFL team, but coaches outside the NFL or not currently employed would be fair game. Still, as mentioned above, the wait was primarily out of respect for Steve Wilks.
  11. Note: This analysis written and posted this past Sunday prior to the Bucs game. A look at head coach situations of five teams as 2022 NFL season nears its end From the article... Carolina Panthers Interim coach Steve Wilks has the team in position to win the NFC South if they can complete a sweep of the Bucs today -- a remarkable feat considering Carolina opened the season with a head coach who's now a Cornhusker, a quarterback who's now a Ram and a star running back who's now a 49er. After a 1-4 start under ex-head coach Matt Rhule, they're 5-5 under Wilks. The turnaround has positioned Wilks, 53, as a strong candidate for the full-time job. He's well-regarded and liked within the building. However, Carolina still intends to go through a full search process that also includes other in-demand candidates. Owner David Tepper's top priorities have been solidifying the quarterback position and the offense, so expect the Panthers to interview all of the rising offensive gurus. If Wilks is going to get the job, he'll need to sell his plan for that side of the ball, too. Tepper also respects Wilks' leadership traits, which is a huge part of the job. Key phrase here: "all of the rising offensive gurus". We know that list includes Johnson and Steichen, but who else would fit that criteria?
  12. A report from Fansided doesn't exactly carry as much weight as a statement from Veach himself, or these from Reid himself. Someone else (forget who) asked him a personnel question just a few months ago and he gave the same response.
  13. Yeah... I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on that. As to Tepper, I wouldn't necessarily call it PTSD. I think he's learning from his mistakes. In his last presser, he basically admitted that coming in and thinking he could just do everything differently and change the league was a huge mistake and that in the future he would probably do things more like they've typically been done.
  14. We don't necessarily have to wait, but both Tepper and Fitterer have stated that they would wait out of respect for Steve Wilks.
  15. Tepper has stated he won't give a head coach full control again.
  16. We're not likely to reach out to anybody until the season is officially over.
  17. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/08/04/chiefs-g-m-brett-veach-i-have-final-say-but-i-collaborate-with-andy-reid/
  18. The vast majority of GM/HC relationships are collaborative by nature regardless of the org chart.
  19. Reid is not a full control coach. He defers on personnel stuff to Brett Veach.
