Matt says he has no reason to think he won’t be back

By that standard, this one's fantastic. -
For those of you (us) hoping that David Tepper would call on longtime Steelers exec Kevin Colbert to help straighten out the unholy mess that is the Panthers football operational structure (i.e. Matt Rhule in control of everything), some info from Peter King's latest column... Kudos to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero for the story on the expectation that Steelers GM Kevin Colbert will step down after the 2022 draft. I have always thought of Colbert as the perfect Steelers GM. Egoless, totally a background guy, cared only about doing the right thing and picking the right players. Fiercely loyal to the Steelers, and quietly strong-willed about the old-fashioned way the franchise functions to this day. The ultimate Steeler. If this is it for him, I tip my hat. You just couldn't see it.

Don't know if I buy Jay Gruden fitting that profile.

Do we have any internal rockstars?
-
My question would be who defines "rockstar" in this case. I know nobody trusts Rhule on that front, but if it's the same guy who called Marty Hurney "a great evaluator of college talent", is that really any better?

We have a chance maybe to trade Darnold!

Only signed a one year deal so he doesn't actually have to be released. With the season being over, his contract is basically ended.

That's a worthy comparison. Wish it weren't, but...

Don't know of any indications that he won't be back. I could name you several why he shouldn't. -
He'd be coaching all his guys to be as versatile as possible.

We just need a good year of recruiting.

Look, I'm sure everybody here has an opinion on Newton's future, his past and whatever. Post it somewhere else. Threads that are written to say "goodbye / thank you" to a departing player should be respected.

Robby's extension was a huge mistake.
