2020 Offensive Line vs. 2021 Offensive Line
Mr. Scot replied to thennek's topic in Carolina Panthers
Guess you'd have to say this line is more Rhule's line than last year. -
Honestly, if I were forced to choose between Gregg Williams and Phil Snow, I'd take Wade Phillips.
-
No argument. There's already more than enough cause to fire him.. Hate to hear that...
-
If they have Kamara, Ingram and most of their line available while we're without Burns, Reddick, Thompson and maybe even Gilmore, they might be able to beat us without throwing a single pass. Throw in that our offense still has to go against their defense.
-
Think that might have been David Moore (who's long gone).
-
What would your reaction be if we beat the Saints

Just got harder... -
A coach having control over his coaching staff is pretty standard. Full control? Far less common. Outside of Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick I can't think of anyone else who has that kind of power right now. Granted, I may be forgetting somebody.
-
Specifically, it would say that David Tepper has no clue what he's doing.
-
Jets wanted Gregg Williams. (yhere was no way anybody but Phil Snow was gonna be Rhule's DC, of course)
-
His arrest record is...concerning, but I'm not sure that's what prevented him from getting the Panthers job. Bieniemy said himself that he was all in on Newton. Tepper clearly wasn't.
-
To be fair, he was probably the true best option in our last hiring cycle, and yes I would take him over Matt Rhule. But I believe there are definitely better choices available to us.
-
Fooling Tepper... ...although evidence suggests that's not a terribly difficult thing to do.
-
See, this is absolutely a good practice (best practice, even) but there's a caveat... You have to put the right football people in place. Jerry Richardson's biggest failing (besides being a creep) was that he just about always put his faith in the wrong people, primarily Marty of course but not limited to Marty. So far, Tepper seems to have the same problem.
-
This is one of my biggest concerns. Tepper has shown he can be very easily fooled into thinking guys are way better suited to their jobs than they really are. That's scary.
-
Let's review David Tepper's miscues on the football side of things to date: - kept Marty Hurney in place - let Marty have a hand in picking the head coach - hired Matt Rhule - gave Rhule a big contract and full power - has tried to move away from the "keep pounding" mantra And as if those weren't bad enough, Tepper is currently expected to keep Rhule around for another year despite his being an utter disaster of a head coach. Oy So in the light of all this ineptitude, I'm curious. After seeing him make dumb decision after dumb decision regarding the direction of the franchise, how many people still have faith in David Tepper as the Panthers owner? Is your answer dependent on whether or not he keeps Matt Rhule?

Trade down, best QB available and the rest Oline..

This is the thing... It doesn't matter how good your strategy is if Matt Rhule is still in charge. -
My brother bet me on that game. He took the Vikings but I'd watched the Raiders a couple of times that year and thought they looked dominant. He was twenty-one and absolutely certain there was no way nine year old me would be better able to pick a football game than him. Heck, he actually went so far as to ridicule my pick. Being a good younger brother, I naturally never let him forget that So big thanks to John Madden for helping me get one over on my brother.
-
I think that's probably also true of Dan Quinn and others. Speculation has been that this offseason's cycle will be "the year of the retread", and I'm fine with that as long as it leaves good young up and comers available to us.

NFL Team Tiers by EPA/play over the last 5 weeks
Mr. Scot replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thanks, Homer -
Is he currently employed? Rhule bring a dumbsh-t may have hastened Luke's exit, but he still to this point hasn't signed on anywhere else. Will he? Possible, but that won't change the fact that when he said he was going to take time off to relax and spend time with his family, that's exactly what he did.

Watched him coach, caught the first game he called with Pat Summerall, saw his last one with Al Michaels... Madden was football.
