Chris Simms Just Released his 2021 QB Rankings
Mr. Scot replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Peter King... Don't know if he's right here... -
I'm saying Voth said it's not a realistic scenario. His exact words: So while it’s easy to toss his name on top of speculation, the reality is something different. He added this as a follow-up: Conversation wouldn’t have been as fun if they had to say, “Deal would have to include other players that aren’t as well known nationally.” As I recall, this was in response to David Newton's "bold prediction". You can continue to speculate about it as much as you want, but it's not realistic.

Oh I don't know. Maybe to like, write an article for the team site, because that's your job. Just a thought...

You watched the Senior Bowl, didn't you? -
You think a guy with direct access to somebody on the team is going to look up answers on the internet instead? Oy...
-
We've got some people wanting it to happen with regard to Watson. What I'd point out there are two things: 1) You never want the guy with the least amount of knowledge in the room to be the one dictating the decisions. 2) If it starts with Watson, highly unlikely it stops there.

Voth actually does work in the building, for the Panthers, and can ask Samir Suleiman a direct question anytime he would like. Does Spotrac have an Insider with the team?
-
That scenario's just as bad.

Kellen Mond? Really? That's almost a bigger question mark to me than ranking Wilson above Lawrence. -
We don't know jack sh-t at this point. That could be good...or not. Hopes for the best are valid. Unfortunately, concerns for the worst are as well. Heck, we don't really know much about Fitterer just yet either.

Fanspeak doesn't concern me. Comments from analysts about Tepper being obsessed, willing to do anything, pay any price, etc... Those give me pause. As mentioned above, his saying that we need a QB isn't a problem. Dictating what we do to get that QB is another story, especially if it overrides people who know more than him.
-
Tepper admitted he was the one who suggested that Rivera switch to a 3-4. And honestly, I don't care how "different a cat" he is. I do care whether he meddles as an owner. I think the last thing anybody wants is the guy who said that Marty Hurney was one of the best talent evaluators in the league influencing football decisions; coaching, personnel or otherwise.
-
He's right, though. Tepper saying "we need to get a quarterback" and trusting what his decision makers do in that regard, no problem. Tepper, as the guy with the least amount of real football knowledge in the room dictating details to people who know way more than he does? Big problem. We've heard plenty of talk about how important the quarterback issue is to Tepper but pretty much nothing about how involved he is in the process, if at all. Personally, I'd rather he not be.

Manziel sure as hell wasn't a "brains" quarterback.
-
I's take Voth's word over Spotrac.
-
-
Link them. Or quote where it was said.
-
I'm pretty sure "the lesser of five evils" isn't a thing.
-
Then why would we want to trade him? (and take a huge cap hit in doing so)
-
If you're implying that the Panthers have actually discussed trading McCaffrey, there's zero indication of that. here's a statement from somebody who actually does work for the Panthers though.
-
You're not missing anything.
-
I seriously can't see trading up to #3 for Lance.
-
Trading McCaffrey triggers a crazy cap hit. It's silly that people are even discussing it. It's equally silly to think that just McCaffrey and the #8 pick nets us the number three from the Dolphins. Again, this scenario isn't feasible.
