All receivers take hits. If you've got the choice of who to send over the middle, are you picking Anquan Boldin or Tutu Atwell? -
Sorry, but all of these are pretty much invalid. 1. Read the articles describing the negotiations that led to the trade. You'll find the Combine had nothing to do with the decision other than it was a chance for Scott Fitterer and Ryan Poles to meet in person. 2. Numerous sources have confirmed Tepper is leaving the decision to Fitterer and Reich. Also, football decisions that are made for non-football reasons (like marketing) invariably turn out to be stupid decisions. 3. The proficiency of our coaching staff does not mean they're going to take the biggest challenge. They and the scouting staff are still going to take the guy that is best suited for the job. 4. Sorry, but this is just tinfoil hat stuff with no actual evidence or rationale. Multiple reports have stated that the team is in "win now" mode. That's why they've built the roster they have. "Win now" teams don't draft three year projects.

The behind the scenes timeline of the negotiations blows up that narrative. -

Why would that matter for coaching? A lot of great coaches were mediocre players. -

I kinda think NFL Plus might be a trial balloon for that. -
December 2012... Two hours after a report that Ron Rivera would remain the Carolina Panthers' head coach in 2013, now another report states the opposite -- that Rivera could be fired as early as today. Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network is sticking to his report from last week, reiterating this morning that he expects Ron Rivera will be fired as head coach of the Carolina Panthers today. Reports out of Charlotte indicate Rivera has not talked about his future with players during their exit interviews, which are being conducted this morning. Conventional wisdom among analysts is that Carolina will take their time, and find their new GM prior to deciding on Ron Rivera's future -- but if Lombardi's sources are right, this is going to be a crazy day. I'm telling you it's probably bullsh-t. -
I remember Richardson petitioned the league to give us the #1 pick as compensation for Bill Polian. How different our history might have been if that had worked

If it meant getting the stench of Rhule completely off the team I'd support changing their primary colors to lavender and neon green
