  1. I cited the people who had final say. Trusting the wrong people is Tepper's fault, but you can't personify "the franchise" as if it's a living thing. It's run by people. In the past it's been run by people who didn't know what they were doing, and yes putting those people in those positions is Tepper's fault, but it's not like he made all the moves himself.
  2. As it's been presented to us in the past, the idea of free agency Is to fill your most immediate needs so that you can choose the best available players in the draft. I feel like we're seeing that play out this offseason.
  3. I would guess higher quality opponents. And yeah, that'd give me pause, especially given that one of the concerns with Stroud is how he reacts to pressure.
  4. The franchise isn't an entity to itself. It's a personification of the people who run it. For the first two years, that was Marty. For the last three, it was Rhule. That's what we have to be redeemed from.
  5. Pretty much. He thought he'd be the subject of a bidding war. The only war seems to be teams competing for how far they can distance themselves from him. I expect he winds up back in Baltimore for whatever they're willing to offer.
  6. Person stated they have "conviction", they just happen to have it on more than one guy. Knowing that more than one guy suits your needs is not "hoping or guessing".
  7. Not sure if anyone's said it but to be clear, I don't think Tepper needs to redeem the franchise so much as he needs to redeem himself as it's owner.
  8. That's how they judge gymnastics routines. Throw out the top score and the bottom score and keep the rest.
  9. Actually several guys on here had been talking about Sanders and hoping he signed here. Opinions are not facts.
  10. People kept looking for an ulterior motive when Kuechly retired. There wasn't one. Guys are learning to pay attention to their health.
  11. Most guys seem to get that it's a business so they don't take things personally. But yeah, some do. And then you've got guys like Rodgers
  12. We might. The full backstory of the discussions behind the Newton pick came out not that long after it occurred. Teams generally don't care if you know when they were bluffing once the poker game is over.
  13. Marty didn't know sh-t about receivers. The one guy he can claim to have gotten right was heavily influenced by Norv Turner.
  14. If you're smart, it does. Our own people have stated numerous times that talking to the players is extremely important to what they do. That's why the pro days and visits and such are so valuable. Ask yourself which is better: knowing the pick soon or getting the pick right? They have until Draft Day to debate this if they do desire. And as long as they get it right, where's the problem if it takes till then to do so?
  15. From the behind the scenes stories of the search, yeah we do. What we don't know is if he'll continue.
  16. I seriously believe they say around and said, "we could take this guy, or this guy, maybe that guy if we do some more research on him". That's reasonable, and reports have said that's exactly what they're doing. The notion that they have to be settled on only one guy rather than two or three to do this has no basis in fact.
