The Panthers will 100% trade up and draft a QB

Raised my eyebrows for a second there before I read the rest

Probably closer to Vick, from what I've seen. I call it nostalgia scouting. I also call it a terrible way to look at prospects.

I remember when Hue Jackson interviewed for the Panthers OC job. That always seemed like a really weird pairing of personalities. Mind you, Bieniemy doesn't come off as being about 95% full of sh-t like Jackson was, but he and Rivera do still seem like kind of an odd mix.

I'd agree. And honestly, the staff we've got right now don't really seem like the type to blow smoke up anybody's ass, so I expect That's what'll happen.

And in DC, the fun continues...

Meanwhile in Wisconsin...

Forbid him from calling audibles, for one. And before McDaniels was Gruden, so...

Word was that McDaniels put some heavy shackles on Carr last season. I don't know if you can definitively say what Carr is or isn't yet given that he's been stuck with a sh-tty organization and lousy coaching for pretty much his entire career. The guys who run the team now are much more qualified than me to make that decision so I'll trust what they say.

Early speculation was that Jones was just saying that as a negotiation tactic. General belief around the league now though is that he isn't kidding.

To clarify, the Bills are getting Holcomb in a senior coaching role. With the news that DC Leslie Frazier is taking a year off (must be nice) it's not yet been stated who will handle Frazier's duties in his absence. Holcomb would be a possibility (and likely a strong one since he and Sean McDermott are very familiar with each other) but nothing's been announced yet.

I'd say it's a big mistake here to assume the Panthers are already either totally disinterested in Carr or utterly gung ho to sign him. That's how fans think, not professionals. It's obvious they have at least some level of interest, which is why you talk to him. How they feel as a group about going after him (or not) might not be fully decided until after that meeting.

Sounds like the Bills are about to get the Al Holcomb experience

Young is one of those prospects that can get you fired a couple of different ways. You draft him only to watch him get injured, you're fired. You pass on him only to watch him go somewhere else and turn into a star, you're fired. I don't envy the personnel guys.
