  1. You know what? Scratch that... Cam Rising clearly needs to be drafted by the Buccaneers
  2. To be fair, that might happen anyway. Gotta figure that unless he sh-ts the bed over the next 13 games or so, Morgan could reasonably be expected to lobby for him. Our old buddy Greg Olsen is a big Dorsey fan too.
  3. Morgan. From just after Fitterer was hired but before Morgan came aboard... Morgan, now the Bills' player personnel director, first met Fitterer when he joined the Seahawks as a scouting intern in 2010. Fitterer was ascending the college side of the scouting department there, but was eager to help teach the new guy about the business. "He was very helpful to me when I first got there," Morgan said. "All those guys were really good with me early on, but he took me under his wing when I was new and was willing to let me pick his brain about college scouting and what he did. And to be clear, besides being co-workers, the two of them are good friends. The professional respect is clear, but it's hard for Morgan to draw the line between his friend and his former co-worker. Fitterer's a guy who helped teach him the scouting business, but he's also the guy he travels with in the offseason, building the kind of relationship that develops as you pack the cars and hit the road together. Just before he moved to Buffalo in 2018, Morgan and his family went to the Oregon coast with Fitterer and his family, just a couple of dads on vacation with the wives and kids, shooting off Fourth of July fireworks and having a great time. "He's just a cool dude," Morgan said. "You guys are going to love him. And, he's going to do a great job." Former Panther great Dan Morgan vouches for friend and mentor Scott Fitterer I'm not so certain Morgan would be all that high on the idea of getting a promotion at the expense of Fitterer.
  4. I've heard good things about Utah quarterback Cameron Rising too. And besides the name, there's this... If he wins a game, he can tell his opponents "You will always remember this as the day that you almost..."
  5. It was Ed Dodds who dropped out early, likely because he wanted full control. Peters made it to the second set of interviews but then the Niners offered him an elevated title and a pay increase.
  6. They "always do"? When exactly did that happen?
  7. That's not where he got his start. Look again. While you're at it, look up who he credits for teaching him how to scout players.
  8. Unless you're framing Marty Hurney and Steven Drummond as "experts", he didn't. And when asked about it, Tepper said he didn't need help from anybody outside the organization.
  9. The website? Sure. Us tanking? Why would we need to?
  10. Why didn't he do it last time? Why did he specifically state that he didn't need to?
  11. No begging. The way Tepper told the story, Marty just gave him a look that he understood to mean "this is our guy" and at that point they all went into "recruiting mode". He also related that he just "had a feeling" Rhule was going to be to the right guy for the job.
  12. Being involved as an owner is understood. Unfortunately, if you also happen to be a dumbsh-t, it's a bad idea. Heck, there are people wanting the Panthers to fire Scott Fitterer along with Rhule and then have David Tepper be the guy who picks both head coach and GM. That's an ocean I find absolutely insane.
  13. Well some things obviously should be I mean, on the one hand we've got people thinking we're going to trade a boatload of picks to the Ravens for Lamar jackson. At the same time, we've got people thinking we're going to trade a boatload of picks to the Saints for Sean Payton. Hell, there are probably people who think we're gonna do both. They'll probably even use the Rams as justification. And while yes, the Rams got a trophy, it looks like the bills are coming due on that spending (and fast).
  14. Or just do what the Texans did. Also have to factor in that they believe in Tyler Huntley, so I doubt they'd have a problem starting Huntley while Jackson holds out.
  15. It would require a change of attitude from before. During the prior coaching search, he specifically stated that he didn't need any consultants or outside experts. Tepper believed that he, Marty Hurney and Steven Drummond could handle it. That committee netted us Matt Rhule I can certainly hope that he'd acknowledge he has no idea what he's doing in this area, but I'm not about to count on it.
  16. They have the option of using the exclusive franchise tag, which would basically mean nobody else can negotiate with him. In that scenario, they hold all the cards.
  17. I don't want a retread. I especially don't want anybody who's chosen by David Tepper.
  18. I've said it before, but Tepper for a lot of his career was basically able to just "big ball" his way through everything. I think he genuinely believed he'd come here, shake things up by doing them differently, "show em how it's done" and have the world bow down to him as the best NFL owner ever. Instead, he's in contention for a spot as one of the worst. And I'm not sure how somebody with an ego like his handles that.
  19. Pretty sure the story about him telling his players he had college options was confirmed. And granted, he comes off as kind of a narcissist. I guess my biggest question with regard to him is whether he genuinely believes his own bullsh-t or it's all just a con job.
